It varies from person to person.

I know this isn't the answer you probably wanted, but it's absolutely true. It also depends on how much you practice a particular technique.

For me, because I have such leg strength, my best kick would probably be my spin-hook (kicking with my right leg). It's just really fast and powerful. I also excel at crescent kicks with both legs (outer-crescent, that is - but my inner-crescent isn't so bad either). As such, the combination of the two - the spin outer-crescent kick is one I think that I can pull of pretty well. As far as sparring goes, I use it as more of a diversionary tecnique - but I've scored with it (to the head) numerous time before. At my black belt testing (TaeKwonDo) I did a spin-crescent on a suspended wood board (only about 1.5 inches thick, I believe) I wowed the entire crowd (about 350 people) because not only was my kick really fast and dynamic, but the bottom half of the board flew about 60 feet to the other side of the arena. Luckily, some kid caught it before it hit him in the face. :happy2: (though it would have been sorta funny if I hit him with a piece of board from 60 feet away :wtf: :haha: )

Like I said though, it depends on what comes naturally to you and how much you're willing to practice. Grandmaster Hee-Il Cho (the guy in my avatar) holds the record for the fastest jump-back-kick in the entire world. He practices about 4-5 hours on kicks each and every day though. :wtf:

What a loaded question.

I suppose you can start at Muay Thai. Grat reputation for kick boxing. Good luck finding a good school though. Obviously different school offer different levels of intensity. There is sport versions and then you have hardcore version where you beat your shin against a tree until the pain stops.

If you want to learn kick boxing as a straight up method to self-defense, I recommend simply finding another type of martial art.

If you're interested in kicking ass, just buy a gun. It's cheaper and smaller learn curve.

Yes i realized a gun can kick ass..... but i'm not looking by any means to start anything.. simply for self defence and mental attitude.
I think it will help me with my life in general and not with fighting.

Glad to hear it. Well expect to spend five or six years learning the basics until you reach shodan (1st degree black belt). Once you get your basics down and nearly perfect then your real training begins in terms of fighting.

or if you want to NOT have to spend the next 10 years perfecting how to suck the sensais dick:

get a punching bag and beat the out of it every day, read a tutorial on punching.

get friends and do submission wrestling...ie choke em out, joint locks, pain, until they have to tap out.

you can be a vicious mofo in a 2months -year
