Just started a new job which comes with 12hour shifts where i basically have to be on my feet for the whole time! I've only done two shifts and i'm pretty much limping home everynite so far. Anybody got any tips/suggestions on how to ease my pain :(
Cheers :)

Wear one of those back braces. It help alot with the back but also keeps you mostly standing strait. So your weight is mostly distributed evenly to your feet. Also you can just get a different job.

after a month, it'll stop hurting...

when I first did a job that required 8 hour shifts, yeah, my legs were sore.... but after a month, I was cruising.

I'm only workin the job for a few months cos the pay is amazing and it'll help me get rid of my debts.

Thats what everyone been saying to me so it looks like i'll just have to work through it until it becomes more bearable.

when i was at Field Training this summer, we were standing for an average of 14 hours a day. and i'd say about 1/3 of the time it was in combat boots or low-quarters. for 29 days. not fun.

the trick is to lean whenever you can.

Thats really tough standing so much.

Its gotta hurt especially if you have weak knees.

I used to have a job where I had to stand an avg of 9 hrs a day (14 hr days are included in that avg). One thing you should try NOT to do, is lean on one leg, while letting the other rest, that messes up your knees because you tend to favor one leg over the other.

As for me, the pain never really went away, I just stopped paying attention to it. Iremeber at the end of the day, when you finally sit down my legs used to hurt like crazy.

my girlfriend works in a clothes shop where she has to stand pretty much all day, except for her lunch break. she used to winge a lot about it, but now she is fine..

honestly, you will be fine when you get used to it, and you will have stronger legs ;)

you can get gel things for your shoes, that will help stop your feet hurting, and before you finish, eat a couple of ibuprofen tablets, they are anti-inflammitory and will stop you stiffening up a lot (so long as you catch it before you are stiff) :)

comfy shoes helps alot... those little gel inserts (DR. Scholls) are fantastic if you have to wear boots... (EDIT.... didn't see tu_face wrote this too, so I'm not copying him)

You'll learn to deal with it, and after a few weeks, it will be nothing.
