TA File Sharing Policy

Alright- so please don't flame me about this. It's just a matter of curiosity. Obviously, whenever someone posts something up about file sharing on this forum, they are automatically referred to this webpage (http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=184104). However, what I don't understand is...if TA is against filesharing then why does it host various livesets? Obviously, it is, indeed, promoting filesharing since it has quite a decent load of livesets available to download.

That's it... just curious...

Because they are hypocrites, and so are most of the people on TA that automatically point out that link when someone ask's where they can download stuff.

Because Swampie asks permission from the artists first?

The problem with 'file' sharing is that often times those that have systems in place to faciliate such activity have little regard for copyright authority and/or how much of an impact its availability has to the respective artist/label. Policing this is resource-intensive and the mods (and me) already have enough on our plates.

For years I've linked to other sites where you could download music - but only those that posted mixes/livesets or singles (with permission) - no albums/ripped promos/etc. The vast majority of sets I've put up for download have been from established artists rather than those that go out and download the latest MP3s and include them in their set.

I don't see the hyprocrisy.

The same reason nothing else illegal is ever discussed on tranceaddict...

Right?

in right there is no hypocricy. a live set is something totally different than an individual track. It doesn't matter how you try to justify it folks, you download individual tracks, or albums, you're ripping off the dj's you claim to love. I can see where the hypocricy is with filesharing. in' leeches.

But, there are plenty of websites that are posted and shutdown that promote livesets. AND c'mon, do you really expect me to believe you don't download music?

I doubt that Livesets would be the reason to shut down a site.. I mean think about it, it's not like these dj's are making any sorta money from these livesets that they play in certain clubs.. so i don't think an artist or a label would have a problem.. I would have understood if it was singles because the singles are always RELEASED.. hence money comes in that matter. Hope u get my point. :)
