What is your favourite martial art film?
I've got a few that i really like.
- Kill Bill vol 1 and 2
- Rush hour series (comedy but has some martial art - jeet kun do i think)
- Drunken master
- Kiss of the dragon (Jet Li is real good)

But my favourite has to be Crouching Tiger, Hidden dragon. Its a really beautiful film and the fight scenes are great. i really want to get the books on the rest of the seires (CTHD is the 3rd book out of 4)

No arguments there!

I also liked Stormriders, the animated movies VampireHunter D + Blood: The Last Vampire and the Hunter x Hunter series are great too.

I've never viewed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon as a martial arts film in the traditional sense. It's quite true that there were fight scenes in which martial arts were (beautifully) choreographed, but that always seemed secondary. The characters and their personalities were lofty enough that their ability to physically fly just seemed natural - as such, I thought it was more about the love they shared and the message conveyed than it was about the martial arts. As she said in the end: "always be true to yourself". Holy. . This is far more important to me than any combative prowess anyone could ever demonstrate - and I think Yun-Fat's character was trying to show just that throughout the entire movie.

The same thing goes for Hero. Both are beautiful films that, in my mind, are about the martial arts only secondary to the message conveyed and the visual/art direction. :happy2:

My favorite martial arts films, however, would have to be Bloodsport or The Legend of Drunken Master. Great action. :D
