Losing your sense of taste

I know this is a rare kind of thread here, between mezzir's drunken ones, trancespeeders videos of himself masturbating in the shower over his fit cousin or somebody promising a free ipod for everyone who sends them a cheque accompanied by a picture of them standing on their head playing with their ovaries, but here goes...
I've had flu for the last 6 days or so, which is nothing i've never had before, but 3 days ago I lost my sense of taste, all I know is if something is hot or cold, and meals I usually love have become hell. I was wondering if anybody had had similar happen to them where they've lost a sense and not realised how much they relied on it for so many things until it happened. I cannot even imagine having to live without this sense, and I guess I really appreciate it now, but I just wish it'd come back. Any tips on things that may stimulate the senses back, or is it just a waiting game ? :( |

while being useful, google cannot always make up for the usefulness that other members can give at times with their own personal ideas :p |

It's obviously a negative effect of using flu medicine or the virus which affects your ability to smell. Don't worry it will probably be over in a few days. Your body regulates everything in a way which ensures you to recover in a best possible way.
I had both the 'normal' flu and stomach flu this autumn and I remember having lost some of my hearing as well. If it doesn't get better call a doctor. Simple as that :) |

yeah, as jp mentioned this has to do with your sense of smell. The sense of smell makes up a great deal of taste, much more than taste buds. You should be fine in less than a week; aslo, try a steamer mask to clear your sinuses. THis is a good way to appreciate what you otherwise overlook, i feel this way everyt ime i get sick.
get well soon! |
