I was wondering if it was possible to burn playstation 2 games...if so, what do I need in order to do it?...and do I need any sort of mod chip for the playstation 2 itself in order for it to read it correctly?
Thanks in advance,

yeah you need a modchip.
and ps2 games are DVDs, so you need a DVD burner, not just a CD burner. |

Not all PS2 games are DVD, only the ones with silver bottoms are. |

not necessarily...but most likely for future games. some games (like NHL2002, for example) are still on cd-roms. so if you are willing to choose your games that way -not a very good choice- then you dont need a DVD burner.
i always think this discussion is hilarious because someone is actually willing to pay for a mod chip and either:
a) installing it themselves, potentially destroying the ps2, or
b) paying someone else to to do it, where THEY could screw up your ps2, rendering it useless.
i know games are expensive, but if you can afford a ps2, mod chip, installation, blank CDs or DVDs, CD burner, DVD burner, and memory cards for you multiple games, then you may as well just buy a couple good games that will work, and even if your ps2 craps out it is still under warranty, so itll get fixed...:) plus its not like every game is good, there are just a select few actually worth money anyways, so you may as well rent some, pick the ones that are worthwhile and then buy them...you cant always have everything you want...late/:D |

I was under the impression that there are external mod chips for ps2 now.

Oh, and how do you know which games can be burned without a dvd burner?

i dont know much about the actual chip, so i might be ill informed...the only way i know of telling is to look on the back of the case and it should tell you. or like tekno said
black underneath=cdrom
silver underneath=dvdrom
and i think gold=video cd, but im not sure... |
