I turn 21 tomorrow. I received a total of $360 as a gift from my parents and grandfather. I'm upgrading my car stereo.
Currently, I have a Kenwood deck and Pioneer speakers with a Sony amp and a Bazooka subwoofer. The front speakers and the subwoofer are amplified. I'm going to keep the speakers amplified on the new setup and add a sub. (As in, removing the Sony and Bazooka.) Here's the question, though.
I want to buy the following:

http://www.cardomain.com/sku/PIOTSW306C
http://www.cardomain.com/sku/QLCQB1123
The question is... considering that I'm going to be running the two front speakers through the amp as well as the sub, is it too much to go with a subwoofer of that power? (Like, will the amp be able to handle it?) If not, I'm going to run this one to avoid overloading things...

I'm already decided on this equipment, as I've had nothing but good experiences with Pioneer equipment in other cars. Just wondering what you guys think as far as power is concerned. |

I havent worked on stereos in a while, but my 1st question is: how big are the pioneer speakers u are currently running through the amp?? and what are the wattages of those??
Just looking at it w/o any specs....it looks like it could handle the load, except your sub will be BEGGING for power & possibly start dimming lights etc. at high volumes.
Again, I havent worked on car stereo in ages. |

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm going to end up going for the smaller sub, unless I can find something else amp-wise in the price range that is four channel.
The front speakers are 160W, btw. (I think... somewhere right around that range.) |
