If your b/f(g/f) cheated on you, how would you react?

i had a gf that fooled around with her ex bf once. i stayed with her for a few months after, for a few reasons
A) it was my first gf, and i didn't know better
B) i stayed with her out of spite, cause i knew her ex would move in if i dumped her, so i was just doing it to be a prick :) |

well...recently my uncle, who is an awesome friend of mine had something happen to him. His wife of 5 years finally admitted that during the death of his grand mother and a month or so before she had been cheating on him with his friend who was 2x divorced and had kids....
ive hung out with her a lot, she used to come down here and wed ill and go club....really really good friend of mine. weve been awesome friends for 4 years or so.
Once I learned this happened. Snip. Im never talking to her again unless she physically appears at which point "no ing excuse. ever." happens. Its a very Kill Bill kind of feeling of "You broke my brother's heart".
Im a huge fan of no drama, so when someone crosses what in my mind is a "mortal sin" kind of act, its just over. I really could care less what their excuse was.
Pretty much my only mortal sin is Betrayal. Dont betray trust, friends, family, dont betray yourself and get in to anything too deep...betrayal is weak, and one of the largest character flaws I can think of. It destroys trust to an extent of "yeah you might be trustworthy one day, but im not going to tutor you and I dont want to have to experience your learning curve."
So yeah, short answer. They are done. Im out of their life forever, and they from mine. Its just too big of a divide, and the life paths are now on seperate planes of existence. |

there's really no way to fix things after you cheat or you've been cheated on. i've tried way too many times, but you can never regain that trust 100%. if you can't trust someone 100% there's really no reason to be with them.
so yea, if someone cheated on me, it'd be over. |

been there, done that. i stuck with her, and i still got dropped anyway.
my advice, cut the trouble short and get outta dodge.
(Emo time) unless it is really a good relationship and there's some serious emotions (love?) involved. then maybe it was just a bad decision.
no real model to follow here. gotta play it by ear.

+1 on the no point in being with someone you can't trust bit, but i dunno. sometimes people make stupid decisions when they're young or whatever, but they can change i suppose. |

It really depends on the circumstances.
Cheating is prolly an indication of a weak character so I'd be inclined to stop caring, stop investing myself, stop trying and let the relationship fizzle away of it's own accord.
If I was involved in a long distance relationship, I might respond differently.
But as Lücid says, trust is of great import and once someone cheats, can the trust be restored?

| i usually tell girls early in a relationship if something did happen i'd want to know about it when topics of that nature come up...that way she might tell me because she will feel like i might forgive her, but nope...its out the door from there sorry |
