Sony produce great in-home products, everything from TV's,DVD players, etc are the best around. The brand can now just sell on its name like Philips,Panasonic etc.
But,as is said everywhere,the research and development team don't bother with the In-Car Equipment. They just mass produce absolute rubbish with the simplest of components and are nothing special. The price is too high for the quality which in the experts opinion is pants!
They still do the job,but not to the quality you can get for the money.
Their gear is aimed at the common chav,some people who know little about car audio but want the Sony brandname to be seen,they don't need to make an effort in this market because they have it good enough in the home entertainment scene!
Although,if your just starting modifying and have not heard some of the better stuff suck as Alpine,Pioneer,etc then don't immediately throw your equipment away,if you not used to better quality it won't affect you much and you can be complacent with the quality of the products,but going from an all Pioneer setup to a setup with Sony you will tell the difference and kick yourself!
This is my advice to everyone who is looking to buy car audio parts,I moderate a small car forum community here in the UK,and I have learnt a thing or two,trust me on this. |
