Thinking about getting a pair of the cold gear tights for boarding. they're $65 tho, very expensive IMO.
opinions on underarmour stuff if you've worn their gear? |

its overhyped and has lots of cons:
-expensive as hell
-tears or pills easily
-retains odor like you wouldn't believe
so to sum up its expensive disposible clothing. |

one thing i'd add is that the stuff does work, that is wick away sweat away from your body keeping you warm/cool and reduce chaffing. Whether its worth the cost and short life span is up to you. fleece pants are good substitute. |

I've gotta disagree with you on all accounts really.
Expensive? Well if you take in to account the quality of the material and then the price of similar products that do the same job its about right. Though I wouldn't suggest it for people that are low on cash and wouldn't be using the clothing a lot. I go to the gym, do sports, and I'm in the military. I've used the clothing in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Germany, El Paso Texas, and the cold gear up here in Indiana. It works exceptionally well. I use it in conjunction with a lot of Polartec items and North Face.
Tears or pills? I haven't had any trouble with tearing yet and I've been using it for well over a year, and trust me I'm no slouch in the getting dirty on the ground department.
Retains odor? Not as much as any cotton shirts that I'd wear while working out, and the sweat stains don't show up at all. Salt stains start showing up if you're in the 110s for a few hours though. The only items of underarmour that really retain odor are the cold weather tops and bottoms. Heat gear and Loose gear are wonderful.
*shrugs* Anyone else use it and have an opinion, or any suggestions on similar clothing and material for the guy? |

I really liked my Under Armour for snowboarding, it was like having wax wicked socks for your whole body, kept me nice and cool/dry even when in the coldest weather where I had the most layers on...
I thought it was worth it, but that's just me... Oh, and I sweat a TON, far more than the average dude, and it still kept me dry and comfortable... |

When I first started working I would sweat like a virgin on prom night at my job. I work in the operating room, so my surgical cap would be soaked. I wore an Under Armour skull cap for awhile, it worked great. |

never wore under armor but i love nike dri fit and dri sphere. use the former to keep u cool, the latter for warmth while sweating. i agree that it really is fragile though.
but u can never go back to cotton after :)

If you're competing in sports in cold weather, it's essential. In hot, meh. If you just wanna get warmer and don't need the extra mobility that you're paying for, then it depends on how deep your pockets are. Nevertheless, it's fantastic stuff. No complaints about any of the stuff I've got. |

under armour or drifit
and believe it or not, i kinda like fleece or thermos material better for snowboarding. the fact that i build a light sweat actually feels good when you board, its reminds me that my body is reacting how it should. if i felt warm but dry the whole time i'd think something was wrong. i use both and i know what both feel like so i can relate to your question, just that i find my self preferring fleece or thermos...
remember at the gas station luna?
