I haven't been to NYC in 2yrs or so, and going this April for 3 days. Can I get some recommendations for some hot spots = hotels(nice bar a priority, in the $150-$250 range), favorite SOHO restaurants/bars, and shopping areas(hipstery/trendy indie stores). Note, I will probably not have time to go to Williamsburg.

thanks guys!!

For $150 in Manhattan you could probably get a whino to let you sleep in his cardboard box and share his Thunderbird with you.

There are a number of pleasant hotels on Park Ave. especially from 24th st. and up. Bleecker and Lafayette houses many bars with various music, live bands, and a considerable crowd especially from thursday-weekend. Also The Meatpacking District is worth looking into. Broadway & Lafayette st. is ideal for shopping, as is 5th Ave. You may also want to check out 42nd st. and Times Square, 14th st./Union Square for further pastime.

hit up soho grand and the hotel gansevoort for early evening drinks. if you want high end clothes, there's armani on prince and marc jacobs on mercer as well as similar-price range shops in the area. for funkier clothes go walking around the east village [10th to 13th streets]. also, don't overlook Century 21 on down on cortland st, across the street from ground zero...

for food, there are too many options to list: we could create voluminous lists based on your tastes and price range.

for drinks, there are also mounds of places in the area you're interested in: you can start on Spring St with Anchor and work your way east toward Sweet n' Vicious [avoid the latter on weekends].

^^^^ great place, but a little pricey. $10 - $20 a drink. Known for its variety of gin. Plenty of cute chicks.
