The folks at the SEMA (who mobilize and lobby on the behalf of automotive enthusiasts when it comes to such legal matters) are urging opposition to the measure, on the grounds that the wheels are not prohibited under Federal law, nor are there any conclusive studies that indicate that spinners pose a safety risk. |

1.) Why do they want to ban them?
2.) Depending on the answer to the first question, why can't New York (both city and state) spend more time focusing on more pressing issues as opposed to banning MP3 players in public and spinners on cars?

| it's probably because they consider spinners a distracting hazzard - something that distracts other drivers around you, thus causing danger. |
