Save the climate before it's too late!

Join over 165,000 people, sign the global petition NOW

In just days, the leaders of the thirteen most powerful, most
polluting countries on earth are meeting in Germany for the G8+5
summit. Climate change is at the top of the agenda--partly because so many of us fought to get it there. But at the last minute, the US
government is flatly refusing any serious action against global
warming.

Bush and his aides know the tide has turned against them, so they're
making a last-ditch play to stop the world. We can't let them succeed.

All 13 leaders need to hear inaction is not an option – but to get
that message through we have to build the biggest global climate
change petition in history before June 8. Add your voice – sign now
before it is too late:

This is the moment to make a stand. Together, the countries of
leaders assembling at the G8+5 summit in Germany produce over 70% of
global warming emissions. They are the key to averting catastrophe.

So we're going to do everything we possibly can to be heard-- present the petition publicly, privately, every chance we get.

Here's the message leaders will hear:

"Climate change is the greatest threat facing our world today - and we are almost out of time to stop it. You must tackle this problem now, decisively and together. Start working toward a new global agreement this year. Set binding global targets for emissions to avert catastrophic climate change. Take bold action immediately - and we will join our efforts with yours."

Already 166,464 people have signed. Can we get to 200,000 signatures
by Thursday? Click below to add your voice, then forward this email
to five people who might care about the planet:

This global summit is the key. Before it's too late, in these next
ten days, let's raise a global cry that can't be ignored -- to save
our fragile planet, and avert looming danger to millions of lives.

Save the Planet sign the Petition!

Negative Mind!:whip:

I thought you'd like to know about this urgent call for action on global warming. I'm one of hundreds of thousands who've signed a petition on climate change at Avaaz.org. In the coming days it's going to be delivered to the G8+5 summit (June 6th-8th in Germany)--to the leaders of the biggest, most polluting countries in the world.

We won a victory in March when over 100,000 people helped make climate change the #1 issue for this summit - but the resistance from vested interests is rising. The summit is days away. Please join me in signing the petition here:

Thanks!

I'm not burying my head. I'm merely amused that you think that your Internet slacktivism is going to help. After all, the Internets is serious business.

climatic changes for the better will happen with or without your petitions. The hype of global warming has spawned a big industry which continues to grow. Soon the lobbying in Washington and world wide will result in policy changes and money will flow into environmentally safe products and technologies. Nobody cares about global warming. It is a huge business opportunity with potentially unlimited federal funding. Even if they prove that earth is actually cooling down, the current trend will ensure that it cools down rather quickly.

Yes, because it is such a great business opportunity to spend 3% of the world GDP to make a dent in the problem... :stongue:

you don't have to stop polluting the atmosphere. you will be f0rced to buy cleaner cars, energy efficient homes and energy efficient products.

Nothing against global warming, incase you are thinking I don't believe in it. Hell, the stuff I am doing research on is motivated by global warming. If I don't accept it, I'll be put out of business.
