I'm surprised no one has mentioned it here yet.

So, a little background before I get to the image (which I'm too lazy to cut up)...

April last year, I visited some family in San Francisco. While wandering around the city, I spotted this guy with a "Jesus Christ Loves You" sign. I thought that was kinda neat. So I'm back down there in September for the Love Parade, and *bam* there he is, in the exact same spot. Well, a couple of months later I'm going through my photos of Love Parade San Fran in 2005, and what do I see? The sign is off to the left of the photo.

So today, Google Maps puts out a new feature where you can zoom in and get a 360-degree view from the street in select cities. So who do I come across?

HE'S STILL THERE! Like, seriously. Regardless of whether or not I agree with what's on the sign, if you believe in something and you have enough dedication to, say, stand on the same spot for years because you believe in it, then you're cool in my book. If he's not down there in September I'll be a sad panda.

this is the camera they used:

Your friends have undoubtedly been clogging up your in-box with funny pictures from Google Maps Street View, but do you know how those pictures were taken? You do now. Google licensed shots from Immersive Media, a company that specializes in 360-degree videos, in order to fill out their coverage in cities like NYC.

As you can see, IM mounts a 11-camera contraption on top of their vehicle as they drive in order to capture the 360-degree view you get on Google Maps. One thing to note, however, is that Google's San Francisco shots look a lot more detailed than their NYC shots. That's because Google took their own van out to take the SF pics.

I'd noticed this when I was using Google Maps at work, said I didn't have the right Flash version even when I updated it to make sure.

Just tried it and wow! Pretty amazing...
