paypal is pretty easy to use, and once i started using it a few years ago, ill never buy an auction on ebay etc which doesnt accept it just because its so damn convienent.
basically, you make an account. you have to give them a credit card number (but its totally safe). then, once you win an auction, or just want to give money to someone for some reason, you enter in their email address, and it lets you send them money. the money gets charged to your credit card. so its basically like making an online purchase, which makes it helpful for places like ebay where its a hassle to get a money order, send it in, wait more, etc.
if you want to go a step farther you can verify a checking or savings account. they will basically deposit a really small amount in it (like, 27 cents or something).. you call your bank, find out the amount put in, and then submit the results back to paypal (and then its verified). totally safe also. then, if you want, you can choose when you pay for something to either have it charge your credit card OR subtract money from your checking account. keep in mind this checking account thing is totally optional..
if you are the person recieving the money, if youve verified a checking account you can have the money just deposited in there within like, a day or two.. if not, they will mail you a check but this could take a week or so (for obvious reasons).
so, if you wanted to, you could just give them your credit card number. the reason why its beneficial to just verify a checking account also, is because they give you a spending limit. just a credit card, lets say they will only let you make up to $500 (random number i chose) worth of transactions... once youve "spent" that much using paypal, you cant use it anymore. once you verify a checking account, i believe its unlimited for me now. so thats one advantage
like i siad, i think the main reason why its so helpful is for auctions, instant payment, faster shipping to you, yanno?
hopefully this has helped! |
