Blu Ray Eye Candy Recommendations

I officially entered the HD era by purchasing Blade Runner on Blu Ray for my Samsung LCD (some dubious yet generous tax refund made that possible) and I was literally glued to the screen. I was regularly pausing just to enjoy the pictures in fron of my eyes. I think I even came twice.
Anyway, what eye candy movie do you guys recommend? This does not necessarily imply that the movie is of general good quality. I heared for example that "The Cell" is an audio-visual festival yet it's clea a JLo movie cant be that good. Gattaca has been realesed recently on Blu Ray and springs to my mind..anything else? |

well for starters, get a movie that was recorded with HD cameras for full HD. |

Some of the older movies look damn good. Jaws is one that comes to mind. Even with the latest releases, they sometimes compress the out of them and make them look like el freak's face :D I would check out some forum topics on After Dawn and some other Blu-ray enthusiast sites. You can find listings of the movies that look the best. |

Standard DVD looks good if you have a player that upconverts to 1080. |

Thanks for the advice!
Planet Earth docu looks fantastic, will order immediately. The Dark Knight will be released on Dec. 22nd, already pre-ordered, of course.
Again, I can only recommend you Blade Runner, it's just phenomenal how good a movie from 1982 can look like, not to mention its sound. I'm a bit disappointed with Pink Floyd's PULSE DVD, though, even for DVD standards it's not that "clean". |

Not sure if it does, but I think the majority of players on the market now do at least 1080i upconvert, and they are cheap to boot around $50. |
