So what's the deal with 24?

I just saw a commercial again for the new season of 24. But didn't 24 have a season premiere set in Africa like a month ago? I'm really confused regarding this series at this point, I was wondering if anybody can settle things.

They were going to do a movie - the writer's strike last year ruined it, so they went with a two-hour "tv event" instead. It's like a prequel to the upcoming season.

Tell you what's the deal: The show sucks immensely. The being said, as a genuine and loyal fan since old S1 times, no matter how many more moles, presdictable plot twists, bad dialogues and Kim Bauer kindappings they're gonna pull - I'll stick to it until the very death of Bauer.

it. They might as well just leave it alone at this point.

I thought that but the prequel was good, better than the last 2 seasons anyway so it could lead to something good. Only time will tell obviously but i've definitely seen worse.

I loved the show in the first two or three seasons... but then it got really bizarre, and Fox seemed to utilize it to editorialize on the sanctity of torture for no good reason.

Then they killed Curtis (Jack shot him). It was all over for me then.

But yes, I watched the prequel... but only because it was set in Africa and I wanted to see what they'd do with that. Obviously it was disappointing.

Why, I found the portrayal of that UN blue helmet soldier to be highly accurate!

Haha, maybe so, it was the "somewhere in Africa... well, there must be no government and a war" thing annoying... the whole special played off stereotypes (which is what the show has always done very well).

Irony aside, I enjoyed the whole Washington storyline, especially presidential transition-phase (incidentally from Republicans to Democrats) it was nicely fitting to what's going on right now, approaching Jan. 20th.
