Music for kids from c0r who don't read MD.

I posted this just now in MD, but really think a fair number of you who don't read/post there might enjoy this as well, so I'm going to put it here too:

I need to preface this by saying all credit for what I'm about to share goes to montana - he sent this to me a couple of weeks ago and I haven't been able to stop listening to it.

This is the kind of music I grew up listening to, and a big part of the reason I got into DJ'ing (albeit very different music). It's basically the very, very best of the old school, containing old electro and big beat records, loads of R&B and funk, and some of the most quality hip hop mixing you'll ever hear.

This is really the definition of all that was at one point in time right about DJ'ing, and I cannot recommend it enough. The stink of funk that reeks from this is indescribable - I cannot stress enough, download this set right now.

Also, I tracked down another set via SA that I think a lot of you all will enjoy. If you like the kinds of jazzy house and techno that I've been known to play from time to time, you'd really do well to check this out:

I've gotten into this type of mix a lot more recently, but I never know where to look. Thanks for the heads-up, Rob!

The Dre tape is really something else - and really represents the music that got me infatuated with both electronic music and hip hop.

"Jitterbug Driveby" is just good, jazzy sounding hip hop and pop/rock - I think it's incredibly well put together, and very different from the plethora of other completely hip hop mix tapes out there.

Plus, hearing "Lucas with the Lid Off" again always puts a huge smile on my face. :stongue:

oh , the man on internet told me in bold text to download it.

Seeing "Motown Philly" on the tracklist just did the same for me. :clown:

But seriously, I'm starting to appreciate the eclectic inter-genre mixes (a la Howells) much more than straight EDM sets. So this is a very appreciated share!

?uestlove???? My jaw just dropped.

Second-best concert I've ever been to.

Is that Eazy-E on the far left on the cover of the Dre record? Obviously before him and Dre had their feud and broke ties.
RJT
Nah, that's the rest of the WCWC.

Alright, kinda looks like him. Although, I suppose that guy is a bit taller than Eazy. Did they even know each other in '86?
