To any tennis players in these forums, racquet question

I know there are a number of tennis fans here so I am hoping a number of you play. I am currently playing w/ a Wilson K Blade Team (104 sq in headsize) after having played with a Wilson nTour nCode (95 sq in head size). I noticed with my nCode I had good control and spin, but due to my poor footwork and technical flaws in my groundstrokes, I often shanked/framed balls, making me realize I needed a more forgiving racquet.

Enter the K Blade. Love the racquet, improved my control, little less spin which is disappointing but increased consistency is a big plus. I feel my technique is improving and eventually I would like to gravitate back to a smaller headsize. I was wondering if anyone has played with the K Blade 98 or a similar racquet, something more akin to a player/tweener racquet.

Against heavy hitting players I tend to spray or hit shots long. I know part of it is my still deficient swings but I know the larger headsize of the K Blade Team, being a 104 sq in, has a lot of power and since i have a fast and large swing motion, I probably generate too much power.

I will tweak with my tension more but am wondering would it do me much good to switch to a headsize at 98 sq in or should I just wait til I am that much better to switch back to a 95 sq in head size.

A little about my game, I play with a lot of spin, both forehand and backhand, don't find myself at net much, do like to flatten out my groundstrokes on big shots a lot.

obviously a trance forum is the best place to ask these questions

No , logic suggests so.

just buy an expensive one :p I bought a really good (not quite pro, but great for recreational use) wilson squash racquet and the feel of control it gives is amazing compared to the cheap beginners one I had.

I often hit balls with my frame, but that's mainly because I have this Spanish grip (i.e. with lots and lots of spin) in combination with lack of footwork (often when I'm tired, or lazy). Also, if my opponent likes to slice a lot, or if we're playing with soft balls and/or on a soft court, then I tend to have a lot of frameballs (because I need to get under the ball enough to get a clear shot). Not a lot a new/better racket can do about that.

Just make sure you bend your knees enough, so you can get under the ball. No need for a new racket imo ;)

I _am_ on the lookout for a new racket though. I tend to rip my harnessing (is that the proper word? Translated literally) to pieces every couple of weeks, and always in the top, because I never hit the balls where I'm supposed to hit them :) Therefore I'm in need of a racket with these things in the frame that causes the snares to be more flexible.

the question is not how expensive a racquet I should buy, but which expensive one, because unfortunately all these damn racquets cost around $170-$200. Luckily if you dig through demo bins you can find $200 racquets for $60, with a few dings n scratches, but no biggie, just aesthetics.

i am in no way qualified to give advice on what to do and my guess is most people here aren't. why don't you confer with your coach or someone at the store. demo the out of the ones you want and figure out what works best for you. i would assume it also depends on how long you plan on using this new racquet...
