Trapped in a virtual reality

Question: if you were imprisoned within a Matrix-style virtual reality, would it bother you? For all intents and purposes this reality would be exactly the same as the real world, though whoever controlled the reality would have the power to kill you at any time while you were engaged with the Matrix.
Or, would you rather fight and risk something (say the death of several family members, grievous injury, or relegation to a far lower station in life) in order to live in a reality you were reasonably sure was 'true', rather than existing due to the benevolence of some virtual reality operator?
So, I suppose I am asking, would you rather be a system-fighter like Morpheus, or someone who prefers to say 'I know, but I don't care' as Cypher does in the movie?
Also, what chance do you think there is that the world we exist in now is a construct and not 'true' reality? |

No it wouldn't bother me. I mean it wouldn't REALLY change my life. I would live and die all the same...and would probably be fine just being complacent. |

That all depends on the quality of life I'd be living outside of this current world. However, if that aspect would be the same as in The Matrix, then I would almost certainly choose ignorance. |

Dunno, depends if I could get things Cypher got himself:toothless, I'd consider |

Don't most religious people live in this paradox already to some degree? Especially the part about being struck down at any moment... |
