Donating Blood

today i did my first donation of double red blood cells. they take out 2 pints and filter out the red blood cells, then feed the rest back in you; plus some saline.
i was doing well until around 1pm and i started getting really tired. have had an exhausted feeling since. even napped for a bit too.
but i try to donate as often as i can now. :)
how many people do it? do they have stuff like this overseas? (i.e. can you go in and donate a pint of blood or something?) |

My first time I got denied because I was "far too under weight and it would be a serious risk" for me. :p
That was 7 years ago. Needless to say, in the past 7 years, beer, fish and chips have done the deed and I can now donate blood like a geyser.
But yea.. it does leave you feeling pretty queasy. Sometimes I get bed ridden for a whole day. But you bounce back pretty soon. |

I 've done it . it was for my late aunt .
You feel tired the first 2 weeks and also the need to stuff your body with food since in your mind you have the mission to get back all the nutrients you lost ... I gained like 10 pounds on those 2 weeks :wtf: |

I did it last year. Had virtually no effect on me whatsoever but I am close to 100kg so plenty of blood to spare.
Felt really great about doing it too, especially since my blood can go to anyone. Been meaning to do it again but the donor vehicle schedule and mine never seem to match up. Might visit the actual head office and do it there. |

you were tired for two whole weeks? really? past times i've donated it's always been just regular one pint of "whole blood". this was the first time doing the double red blood thing |

Cool... Just curious.
What's your take on me utilizing a week of my vacation time to travel with some friends to the gulf coast to help with the BP cleanup mess? |
