Not often i come into the c0r but am in need of some help.
Over the past year or so i've gradually lost weight.
I was sitting at 100kgs and am now down to a slim 78kgs (last time i checked was before Christmas)
Now i did realise i was losing weight but i'm pretty sure i've lost more over Christmas, which is not what i want.
I haven't been as onto it as i should have been but getting slightly worried now.
I play netball (don't wanna hear it lol) at least 4-5 times a week so that's a bit of cardio.
Don't tend to go to gym cause i don't have time but could definately make it.
My frame is obviously a lot thinner and my legs are probably paying the price. (190cm, developed shin splints couple of years ago and have constant pains in my legs.
So i'm hoping someone is able to give me a few tips on gaining weight, what i should/shouldn't do etc
That sort of thing.
Cheers team

Are you just looking to gain weight, or are you after lean muscle? Some of what you've lost is undoubtedly fat, because 22kg of muscle is a massive amount. You're not going to gain significant amounts of muscle messing around with things like P90X. If you want to gain multiple kilos of muscle it's going to take commitment to a real bodybuilder plan, probably over a couple of years. |

Yeah, P90X won't make you gain weight. Gaining a ton of muscle mass involves lots of low-rep heavy lifting, and a lot of carbs, protein, and dietary supplements. |

Yeah definately looking at gaining muscle.
Don't want to put on a ton of weight.
Will check out the workout thread mate.
Understand it will take a lot of commitment, ready for it just got nationals in Mar then off season.
Also takes a lot of money for a diet like this, i'm sure :whip:
Whole other issue though aye :P

What makes you think you cant lift heavy with low reps doing P90X?
Apparently you haven't done the program.
If you want to gain lean muscle mass you have to increase calorie and protein intake significantly. If you've lost that much weight you have a killer metabolism or you're sick. I'm guessing the former. You'll have to eat an insane amount of calories to gain any mass. Once you do, you'll have to eat more. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn. That's why you see bodybuilders eating 3000-5000+ calories a day so they can sustain their workouts. Some people aren't built to put on muscle and it'll take a lot of dedication and motivation to achieve this.
You'll want to get into a supplement routine. I recommend Beverly International.
http://www.beverlyinternational.com/
It's a bit pricey but it's the best stuff. The protein is amazing! I drank it everyday for over 4 months and never got sick of it, it's delicious and low in cholesterol compared to other brands.
Here: http://www.beverlyinternational.net...Flyer-Final.pdf They have the most popular supplements and at the bottom give you an idea on what you should take depending on your goals. You're obviously gonna want to chose the "Athlete who wants to Gain Maximum Strength and Muscle Size"
Last year at the Arnold Sports Festival I talked to a lot of pro bodybuilders and they swear buy it. It's actually coming up in a month so if you're in Ohio it's a great time and you can learn a lot! |
