Japanese TV is for the most part 50% food and people eating it saying "ooooishiiii", 37%, childish entertainment aimed at Adults who like childish, dumb humour, 10% for dramas with wooden acting, 2% government mouthpiece (NHK) and 1% worth watching.

I like the childish humor, personally. It's refreshing.
The thing that always gets me about Japanese humor is that they don't do sarcasm or irony. Whenever I tried to make a sarcastic joke in Japan, they were confused and thought I was being serious or assumed they misheard what I said. It was one of the first things that made me realize sarcasm isn't all that funny anymore.

Japanese sketch actors on British TV. Gets better mid way through.
