Drug War Embarassments: The New Commercial
View this Thread in Original format
Devbert
The new commercial follows how a guy named "Dan" buys a joint, and it traces the profits back to a drug kingpin who killed a family.

Basically what they are saying is this:

1)Grow your own pot.
2)You are responsible for others actions (i.e. You buy Nike shoes, and Nike runs sweatshops, so you support sweatshops).

Christ, I ing hate our government. So ing stupid, they actually think if they spend millions on these commercials use will go down. All that happens is they waste our tax money and get made fun of for wasting it.

That's better than the "Verb - It's what you do" campaign against obesity.

But I will agree with your conclusion that the government is run by hamsters.
biznology

Hahahaha I agree ... they are all pretty bad. I would love to hear about the ideas they discarded. It would make for a very amusing evening. I'm surprised it wasn't linked back to osama bin laden himself planting poppy seeds ....

Truth campaigns are ing stupid too. Everyone on the face of the planet knows cigs aren't good for you. People start out smoking them for social reasons, then they become addicted and need the nicotine to calm them down. I admire that they care, but people know that it's bad, and it's existed too long to be shut down. Same with booze. We know it's not good for you, but it's legal anyways.

On another point, Afghanistan just resumed growing cannibus. It was banned by the Taliban, but now that the US has ousted them, Pot has increased 10 Fold! Ironic, isn't it?
ahlamalek
i think they grow poppy in afghanistan --> opium, heroine

under taliban regime it was harshly sanctioned, the only good thing about that regime
Devbert
Yes, they also grow opium in Afghanistan.

But cannibus grows naturally there, and they just started harvesting it again.

The US supports Pot and Heroin overseas, just not locally.

Ha, the war on drugs, what a in joke.

and as for afghanistan, yes, they grow drugs there, the US knows. they let it happen, because, THEY are making the profits from it coming over to the united states.

what do you think happened in columbia, nicauragua et al?

the war on drugs, and the war on terrorism are FARCES.

now, that's not to say that i support either terrorism or drugs, but the way the US is going about doing this, AND their motives behind it are very messed up to say the least.

so frustrating.....
Devbert
It's just funny that the government legally licenses drugs that are known to kill (Tobacco and Liquor), but not less harmful drugs, like marijuana, because they couldn't tax it. They only want the drugs they can profit off of. The government can eat my .
