Need advice on a sampler

Hey gang, long time no see.
I need some advice on an upcoming purchase, I'm looking to bring my productions into a live setting and I could use some suggestions.
What I'm setting out to do is fairly simple -- I want to be able to export loops from my DAW as mp3/wav files which I can then upload into the sampler's onboard storage (I don't want something that requires a PC connection). I want to be able to organize those loops under song banks so I can easily switch between them in a live setting. And I want to have some kind of step sequencer that allows to start/stop these loops easily.
I don't necessarily need an onboard sound library or tons of live production features, just something to act as a live step sequencer for various loops that I upload to it. These loops will be around 30 seconds long at the most so I'd need something that can handle that.
The MPC Live looks ideal but my budget is about $600, is there anything around that price that does what I'm looking for? Thank you! |

Welcome back Ky! Long time :)
I hate to say it but from what you're describing, you really kinda are looking at the MPC live.
The maschine might well also fit the bill but I've only got very limited use on those, someone like Dave or Geoff might be better suited to answer on that.
At a lower price point, the Electribe Sampler will let you trigger samples and will be more fun than winning the lottery on your birthday, but they have their limitations, especially compared to the maschine or MPC.
If you're just triggering samples the the 'Tribe might do it, but I think the machine may have more options. |

Rann <3 Couldn't have asked for a better first reply. I'll look into the electribe but I'm starting to think saving up for the MPC Live is the way to go. I don't know if I'll get the same bang for my buck at a $600 price point but what I'm asking for is fairly simple in theory so I'm hoping to hear a few other ideas before I dive into that big of a purchase |

600 american is a lot of money to spend, you can definitely get a mpc 1000 for that much second hand and have a decent amount of money left over?(hell a 2500 if you're lucky) read about the limitations and bugs of every device you're looking at, for example if you read about the mpc 500 you'll see it has quite a lot. IMO if you look at /listen to all the electribe 2 demos, there is something thin and off with how it sounds, but ofcourse feature wise, its insanely hard to beat.
Also there is a nifty OS for the mpc line read about it here.

this seems to be a pretty decent variety of MPC controllers on sale:
https://www.ebay.com/i/182647269792?chn=ps&dispItem=1
My primary concern is being able to load up to, say, 10 songs at a time with one of these things. Some of these controllers only seem to have 128 mb of onboard storage which translates to what, about 25 thirty second loops at the most? Ideally I'd like something that has more than enough memory than I'll need and the MPC1000 only seems capable of doing this if I invest time and money into upgrades to the pads and onboard storage/RAM.
Honestly at that point I'd rather save up for the MPC live. I'll look into the electribe a bit more though, for now I've only had time to check out the MPC models you suggested |

I would definitely save up for the MPC Live too. With onboard SSD's I really wouldn't want to go back to the clunky old way of doing things.
Maschine is obviously tied to a computer, so a no go.
The new Electribes aren't bad, but I would check on the pattern switching bugs. There used to be a slight delay when switching patterns but I think they fixed it in an update.
There's the new Digitakt too, but that only allows mono samples, so probably a no go. |

What about a sample looper, like the Boss RC-2-2 or 505? Live performers are doing pretty genius things with those. |

Hello there,
Yes what "he" said above. Boss have some and digitech.
There showed up this:

,,........135 dollars NEW usa pricing
reading your comments OP, it seems such an obvious musical
box, that should exist and be real reasonable price.
it's just a stack of mp3 players, hitched up, with a controller.
ins and outs. ..........O__0.........
