Winamp is good for simply playback. But if you want to record MP3's to CD really well play them through a wave editing program like soundforge or wavelab then into an outboard CD-r. You can tweak the parameters and do basic mastering with these progs' to really get the best out of MP3's. |

LOL he's asking about mp3 players, not software like winamp.
I have a Creative Nomad Zen and I LOVE it. The sound quality is better than the iPOD cuz it goes up to 95 dB while I'm sure that the iPod is less than that. It's also small enough to fit any pocket. 20 GIGs and cheaper than the iPod, great deal. |

so...its a cd player? i donno i need something more compact and soemthing that can hold more. mainly i want to listen to my vinyl that i am in the process of ripping and at 256kbs 700 is not enough...at all. hows the sound? why would anyone need vcd? and if its an mp3 player it kinda defeats the purpose of having a cd doesnt it? even though i see some use in that... i dont see much. basically i want an mp3 hardrive player with the best sound. |

For what you're looking for, the Creative Zen is the best hands down. Smaller than a CD player with 20 GBs and the best sound quality. End of discussion. |

The netMDs are great.. my Sony MZ-N1 is perfect... there is no other portable players near the netMDs quality, portability, durability and batterylife today... so they are still the no1 choice IMO :)
and when I say portable I dont mean a bigass cd sized player.. what use is a PORTABLE player if you cant carry it in your pocket without any trouble????? |

^ Can it hold 20 gigabytes of mp3s? I don't think so. Next! |

sigh..
it depends on how you phrase the question.
it you ask what audio player with built in HD you can ofcoz disregard the netMDs..
If you are asking what GENERAL/ALLROUND audio player has the best portability, performance, battery life, durability, sound quality and general quality, the top-of-the-line netMDs are KINGS.. just try them and compare to all the bigass, expensive, unstable, undurable, featureless HD players out there and see for yourself |
