I know as an American I grew up on the usual music that most grow up on, whatever they play on the radio or MTV n such .... I was just wondering.. from an American stand point, what was the turning point for you as far as music goes? Was there a particular live set or song that made you go towards the trance genre? I know for me it was Paul Oakenfold Live@home-space in Ibiza.mp3 I was just wondering what the turning point was for you... lemme know..

This topic would be better off in the Music Discussion forum, but I would say the CD that turned me was Tranceport.

Binary Finary - 1998, PvD - For an Angel, and Chakra - Love shines through. They were on a eurodance cd my friend burned for me, & I instantly fell in love with the music from just those 3 songs.

i have to say... the thing that turned me towards trance was the cheesiest track you can ever imagine (about 4 years ago):
Robert Miles - Children

for me it was by burning cd's for friends. some of them would request some trance/dance songs and i thought nothing of it. to me they were pretty crappy, but i guess once i started actually listening to them, they started to sound better after each listen...

This is not cheese - its classic!!!! This was one of the tunes that got me really into trance - although I had been flirting with the genre before this tune, but I was still hooked on my happy hardcore!! (I was only 15 though).

I'd always listened to rock, metal, or alternative. Then, some of the mid-90's dance songs by Amber and Real McCoy found their way into my music selection. In the summer of 2000 when I was 14 I got blazed off of my ass and listened to Disk 2 of Ministry of Sound's "Clubber's Guide to Trance - Mixed By ATB". After that, I discovered Tranceport, and then there was no turning back.

Since I've started going to parties and clubs, I've began to like house and prog more and more and not like trance so much, but it will always have a place in my heart.

you calling a classic like that cheese? tha ing are you smoking...anyway i used to listen to rap/hiphop/R&B three years back but then it kept getting cheezier and cheezier with people like Nelly, JA rule, Ashanti ETc. i was completely sick of the poppy commerical rap so when i first heard out of the blue and exhale i knew trance was gonna be the music i was gonna listen to from then on

Cheese like hello do you know what you are saying... SANDSTORM is CHEESE!!! not this classic... but anyways...

Been a teen i grew up with radio around all the time, and at nites we used to hear alot of different styles of music, mostly pop, then came the dance genereation, when stuff like Sash was cool, then moving deeper i moved from that to raves, techno generation was good, but then came the monotonous [spelling.. ?] feeling, so delved into a little side of electronic music called Trance, and guess it stuck, still love techno and dance, but trance is something that can't be replaced...

Binary Finanry - 1998. I remember when i was 15 years old i saved up and bought a 'dance' cd just because it had that tune on it. But what an investment, the cd also had: For an Angel, Greece 2000 and yeah heaps of other classcs that made me find my way into the trance world!

ive never looked back since
