Interesting move by 1015. Dunno if i like the name infinite or whatev, but in the end I'd prob hate any name ever thought of. The name shouldn't be what's important in the end. And I'll forget if the lineups are proper. SO far, they are!
That said, I actually like the move...but I just hope that there's still a good space/area where if you want to take a break, you can. I've never been to it when it's been marketed under 103 Harriet or whatev. If the crowd isn't there, try to confine it w/o feeling cramped. And then you can use the rest of the club to try out other things or have special events. And then open it all up on huge (eg. PvD) nights!
I like it to the point that anyone who has talked to me privately would know I'd do a similar thing with Circus in LA. But until the crowd is there, I'd use Circus' side room (which isn't small by any means) as the main room except for the bigger acts. It's about giving an impression that the place is hopping. I think some promoters/clubs/etc feel ashamed when they have to scale back, but fuck man...I'd rather have you scaled back overall than trying to do something that for the time being is a lost cause no matter how hard you try.
If it goes well, I hope they give the entrance a good door treatment/ makeover.
BTW, it might've been like two years ago now I remember readin git...but wasn't the mainroom supposed to get some love (ala MAKEOVER) at some point. I think it migh've been this year, but time has flown so far over the last couple of years I'm not sure.
I can't wait to be back in SF! I just wish it could be sooner than later. Someone give me a job w/ big bucks up there! (because I'm not moving back right now if it's some job where the pay makes it difficult...)
