My only critique is that you have to give it more impact on the drop at 2:25 - was expecting a fat kick or layered (simple) beefy break over that next verse, but all it does is fill in the missing beat from breakdown - nothing extra hits and I can't help but want the track to go there.

But honestly, you produce some the best sounding DnB out there.

You're too kind mate!
I tried to make that 2.25 part have a little more impact thanks to your feedback. I added other quiet drum layer but kept sounding muddy so I just increased existing drum volume instead where you suggested.

The piano is my Trancelover03591, I too would be interested to know what he used.

TRANCELOVER _ yes I've taken your advice the second break is now more simple. Afraid I ditched the original synth I had there so its not recoverable.

Made a few alterations, not so much vocal now. Hopefully thats it now.

I used Piano One, with some processing. The original piano demo I wrote, inspired by my occasional interest in living in London, is here:

Richard mentioned making a DnB version so I sped it up and sent the .wavs/midis for him to turn into gold. He definitely did!

The reason behind was that (and happened to me already) sometime if I share a full and ready to go production on SoundCloud it was distributed all over the net and free for download

Cheers guys and thanks for some rough but honest comments

Just in the case if somebody doesn't like to go back and find this latest (but short) version on this track then here we go:

sounds a bit tighter Darek - i would compress the vox a good bit more (with a nice vox compressor obv.)

i think some buss compression would help to tighten the mix up as well, its a little bit too jumpy in places for me, not saying to flatten it altogether as dynamics are good but a little compression could be nice

potential is there for a nice track anyway imo!

Posted by Raphie on Jun-22-2015 07:58:

i would leave that to mastering, open is good
The voice can use a bit more compression though, to even it out.
And I'm finding the mix a bit "thin" in the midrange, needs a bit more depth there, maybe different reverb

Thanks Paul, some of your recommendations are already implemented and some of those compression issues will be cover in mastering stage (or even in mixing when requested by mastering expert lol), great to hear your take on this production man, appreciate

Sounds interesting to me Raphie - very polished and clean production with smooth but dynamic melodic vibe all over it lol -> but I would like to hear some dirty sub-baseline with modulated sounds on it, I think it would add some needed bite to this track for attractiveness.

Cheers,

Darek

Thnx , yes some gritt will be added soon the progression is all Dave, though tonight I made some nice variations. Interesting project.

yeah open is good and you might be able to do something with the mix to help it along - i just find the mix a bit unsettling in places

loving the trance gated vocals on this

i think the bass could do with some mid range growl on top of the sub, its too simple at the moment imo

i like the drum groove and hats and synth

good work!

Wow, very nice! bit old 2step vibe. graig david nothing to moan here, maybe a tad middy/muddy (400-800)but further near perfect.

Lovely track Chris, so listenable.
Do you pay for singers like this? I know you told me before something about how to find singers but then I could not find the post.

One small thought on the track, at the chorus, maybe layer the vocals a little just to set them apart from the verses.

I think I may have signed my most recent DNB, the remix of Calebs piano track.

Here is an early draft of the next, any thoughts before I go deep into this one;

thanks very much for the feedback everyone

Rich i piad this lady 150 for writing the lyrics and melody and performance which is pretty cheap considering she is a pro (works with soul 2 soul atm). I have paid between 80 - 150, you can find peole who will do it for free who are pretty good tbh. I use Starnow.com, place an ad on there you'll get tonnes or replies with quite a few good ones imo

yeah man i like this one. At the risk of sounding like a broken record i still think you should get a pro or semi pro vocalist involved, get them to put some creative input into the song (if you want) and record it well with a good mic, would make a huge difference imo

Its not that you have a bad voice IMO, but it would really make a difference witht the right vocalist!

this sounds great Richard, very Brit poppy
Vocals should be a lot more prominent though, they are drowning a bit.
Follow Chris his advice and get a singer. Track is great!

That would be great mate. Only thing is as you know I'm no singer, so I'm not sure it would be fruitful, but would like to meet up anyway, maybe do a collab or something. Perhaps if I / we had a track ready and we got a singer in or something, that could be better than me singing 25 shitty takes.

My issue with recording vocalists at my place is I live in the country, and they probably won't want to come out here.

Thanks to you and Raphie for the feedback, it's encouraging. The track needs a bit of filler and fx, but I want to keep it fairly basic as I am the ultimate over production monster.
