Cheers Richard,

Got your idea on how to spice-up this piano a bit man, will try different approaches and see what would work the best - appreciate!!!

the demo song by darek, i like it has some interesting buildups....one thing i would address is the white noise sweeps they sound out of place and harsh

this one i like it also it's got a good groove, that splash riser thing at the 2 minute mark sounds kind of weird and out of place.

this is good too, ..i like the changes in it....theres alot of stuff happening but its not too crazy and out of control

Been getting annoyed with my mixing ,lately, is this better?

Posted by Evolve140 on Nov-29-2015 23:24:

thanks dude listened to a ton of shadowchild mixes and radioshows when I lived in LA during part of my production hiatus, probably one of my biggest influences. I sometimes envy younger producers who pick up the art and start banging out awesome tracks 2-3 years later, since I've been mucking around for more than 10. but the way things turned out it had to go the way it did, and i wouldn't change a thing even if i could. tbh its kind of a big deal to me to be able to make stuff like this. im sure some of you can relate, when you're good but you're *just* not quite there, either production wise or artistically. I bogged myself down by either focusing on certain aspects of making tracks and over-doing it or not focusing enough on certain parts that I left to be improved upon, but I think as long as you understand that there is ALWAYS room for improvement and development and you stay humble, it is possible to reach certain goals/dreams, that insatiable obsession-like passion bordering on clinically insane

btw will check mix after I wake up. im a zombie at the moment

This is really solid work man, I think you are on "really good" path Jesse to get some good release soon (and this track could be the one).

Sounding really clean and levels are well controlled.

clap is slightly too loud imo, apart from that its great stuff, you are not using too many elements which i really like.....

Posted by Woony on Dec-03-2015 23:00:

Thanks! Yeah, the clap might be a little too loud, now that you're saying it. But you know, i've had people tell me my claps etc. are too quiet a lot of times, so I'd rather over-do it at this point, I think

to me it was jumping out of the mix a little too much, rather than blending in, you could try eq-ing some of the sharpness out of it so that it fits the groove better

Posted by Storyteller on Dec-04-2015 09:17:

Got Serum for quite some time but it is hogging my Core2Quad processor so hard it is not even funny. So it is waiting for me to get a new pc hah. That might take a while though...

Smoothe stuff but yes that clap is jutting out and spoiling it some.

I've has serum a few months, its not bad but not sure if I like it that much yet. I used on my colours track here as the high searing lead in the drops

This track has quite a bit of my new JDXA in here too.

Mids are boomy dude! That woomp woomp pad-synth part, just a notch down about 6 db around 300-500, it just dominates the mix. this is actually quite nice I love melodic drum n bass like this, especially the vocal bits. I would love to try and mix this down if you want!

edit: also are you mixing loud?? I like to mix with decent volume but to me the easiest way to hear mixing issues is at really low volumes and its what stood out to me the most was that low-mid area, basically just with that one synth though.

Like this, nice bass in the breakdown. On breakdowns, i do think you over-elaborate a little on them

The mix is a bit muddy in places, try eq-ing out a little of the 200-800 stuff, not too much or the mix will sound a bit cold

Thanks mate.

Out of interest is the drop doing for you, here is the latest version;

I still wonder if the leed synths are making enough of a statement or not.

Dont feel like starting a new thread, thought some of you might entertain this.

Edit I noticed a fault on 'frozen' pad which I have fixed

Sounds really nice Richard. Just needs to be developed more I think. Really chill and prog.
