I think it sounds awesome except the drum elements. Maybe some new samples on those? They just sound a bit cheap and dated to me.

Hello 1994

I agree with previous comments it sounds a bit dated. Particularly the drums. Feels like it is quite similar to Progressive House Worldwide stuff (label).

Yes! Yes! Yes! More!
Very cool vibe. Reminds me of "Robert Babicz - Dark Flower (Joris Voorn Remix). If you put some cool synth on top of this with maybe even a deep bass synth you're golden imo. Really cool vibe!

Liking the chords sir. A lot going on in the mid, there isn't really a bassline although the arp goes quite low. Technically a lot can be improved. The hats are flangy, the kick is boomy without real punch. You might benefit from searching for drum samples. Overall the vibe is nice though, but it sounds like an old slowed down trance track from 1999 .

Was wondering if I could get a second pair of ears on this, too busy/boomy(my initial thoughts)? I know I gotta take care of those hot pops in the break.

Clarity and mixwise it is fine. Nice seperation of instruments. I would tone down the low end a bit to make the mix less heavy on the low end.

The pads coming in a 1:43 are lovely. Cool vibe off of those, not sure they blend well with the previous ones when transitioning. The new pads set an interesting mood. Curious to see where you will be taking this. I would filter the pads down, build up the tension and on climax just open up the filter straight away and have beats chug along

Thank you just what I needed, yes definitely tricky puzzle to solve; trying to reverse-engineer some older tracks for inspiration. Usually, over-committing to static elements gets me in trouble.

Yea I was a bit worried about it sounded dated, but sorta got carried along with it.

Not much point trying to modernise it as would need a total overhaul.

Back to drawing board, lol.

right, im gonna say that i was disappointed when the pads came in, didnt fit the initial mood of the track for me at all, shoulda kept it dark imho!

loved the start, loved it, reminded me of old prog stuff but i agree with ST, no need for such heavy bass

we need to bring the old prog sound back!

Posted by evo8 on May-25-2016 14:16:

@ rich - just too much going on for me, too many things to concentrate on and as result i lost interest, try to keep it simpler imo

@ gordon - its ok but have heard much much better from you!

Yes, I have something in mind in regards to that :}

The only solution is to make 2 mixes, I want to keep one contrasting as there is something profound about it I enjoy.

This is very cool. Part from 3:00 to 4:10 seems a bit empty or too long to me. Chord change at 4:13 could be better.

What about this one? I'm not sure if it's interesting enough.

Thanks! Bass as bass sample or bass melody?

i would say both? plus later on in the track it gets very messy, not sure if thats a new instrument or just the filter opening up on the bass

good foundation there for a nice track!
