Yeah I read the reviews and decided not to see it. Its looks like one of those movies you want to like but can't. Del Toro + Hopkins yes, yes. But like so many movies today the story is compromised in favor of special effects.

I was really looking forward to Wolfman, but got worried when it wasn't released to critics before it opened. Dang.

On the upside, I'm off to see Crazy Heart now. Heard great things.

Disagree re: The Wolfman. I thought it was a classic monster flick and it was very well done. Gory as hell too, didn't expect that.

cinematography was really cool... gore was nice too, I'll give you that. But really, it sucked otherwise. There was zero chemistry between characters and nothing that happened was clever or unexpected. I almost fell asleep.

Do yourself a favor and go see Ajami. Stunning movie, sort of "LA Crash" meets "City of God" in the Arab-Israeli town of Jaffo. Wouldn't be surprised it it goes all the way to grab the Oscar for the best foreign film:

Aw shit. I wanted to see Wolfman just for Hopkins

it was like he was the exact same character from Dracula... but older and chunkier.

just a quick gripe. when they changed the name from "SciFi" to "SyFy", i was pretty upset with it. the label sounds real cheesy.

Wait...they actually changed the name to "SyFy"?

Apocalypse Now sucked. I actually like it all, except the protagonist. Which is a shame because he's the fucking protagonist.

Martin Sheen?

I've nothing against the man, but rather how he portrayed his role. He's shell shocked, enigmatic & losing sanity. But he's boring about it, always staring blankly about. But now that I think about it, perhaps as the viewer we're as helpless as he is. After all, we have no say in the story & we're forced to just look. I guess I should watch it again. I love this part by the way:

This is one of my favorite movies. I watched that part with the director's commentary on and Coppola said that Brando didn't much care for Hopper and that Brandos outburst was an unscripted manifestation of that. Hopper got pissed and wound up quoting the end of the poem Brando was reading - "The Hollow Men" by T.S. Elliot.

Would he recommend it if it was?

Great movie though, even though you figure out whats going on pretty quickly. How it all plays out is where the movie excels imo.

i watched law abiding citizen last night. i liked everything except the ending.

*SPOILER*
i loved his entire vendetta, but when the black guy tells him he's learned his lesson, i saw no reason in trying to blow up the last room full of people who had nothing to do with his trial.. so i think that was his ultimate demise. which sucked bc i was rooting for him.
*SPOILER*

Just watched both parts of Che. How the hell was Benicio del Toro not nominated for an Academy Award for this role? What the fuck?

Unreal.

Posted by woscar on Feb-27-2010 20:46:

Shit, I have both parts and have not seen them yet. Sounds like a plan for this afternoon.

Wow, just read the actor who played Fidel is Mexican. He nailed the role and the accent.

I watched "Werckmeister Harmonies" yesterday. Pretty interesting movie with some haunting scenes, but altogether Tarr's usage of looooooooong takes started annoying me. I'd recommend this to those who want to see something unconventional and bold, but I guess it's nothing for most people.

i love love love this movie.

Everyone did a great job. Camilo Cienfuegos was awesome. He was such an awesome character. May he RIP cuz I have no doubt in my mind Fidel killed him.

That son of a bitch. He and Che were his top men
