Goddamnshitfuck. I've created a bass/perc combo that I really love, but I can't think of anything to go with it.

No sample, just needed to vent.

I especially like that little metallic percussion, reminds me of Deadmau5. Mix seems spot on to me.

I have, after several years, started to make a trance track.

Unsurprisingly it sounds like it's from several years ago....

Dig this. Very old school progressive tonality.
Vocals are very apparent to me, maybe just a tad bit loud. Maybe its me.
Liked that hip hop break beat at :25 =OP
Sounds very clean in production. But you have always had that down.
Is it completed?

Don't know what to call it but for some reason I couldn't put it down.
This is my very first track without the use of any sample. Kind of proud of myself but I am still a noob at sound design and learning.
Production seems "ok", however this is post and haven't mixed but rather mixed as I went.
Any suggestions in any area?

Lovely, prefect main synth there, what synth is it mate?

Thanks Richard, that would be Massive. Appreciate the listen =O)

I would strongly recommend to work on your drums part as so far is not driving this track the way it should - melody vise this WIP is really sweet but without drive from your drums this will not create enough impact on listener. Definitely worth of finish it.

My $0.02 (btw this melodic line is familiar with me some how).

Darek,

Always value your opinion. And yep...I agree, listened in the truck today and was underwhelmed and noticed right off that the percussion group was low in volume.

I am curious if you guys had any feedback on my dumb ass drop at the 1:22 mark. Personally, it is the one thing I keep going back to as it is very noticeable. I had a hard time coming up with something on that drop and I dont think I remedied it with what I have

Posted by Richard Butler on Sep-08-2016 15:00:

@ 1.21 I'd suggest bigger drums coming through and some sort of vocal sample - like a single female sung word or two - or do it yourself with heavy processing

The synths are real nice, just need a bit more unique personality injected such as the vocal and drums I mention

IMO

I would suggest to rework your drums (or bring them upfront) first and upload your WIP again as right now it is really hard for me to get any idea on how to deal with this drop ---> but I think you could add more tension in pre-stage part (from 0:54) of your drop (like more raisers and even some with heavy sidechain on them).

Not completed, no. I just manage to sit down for an hour or two and make something that I hadn't done for several years. I might get back to it!

I did manage to listen to your track before it disappeared and my impressions were good. I liked the synth work as Richard pointed out, but I did feel the bass synth was a little too low in the mix.

I wouldn't mind hearing an updated version.

I went back 3 pages there is really nothing for me to write regarding feedback everyone is posting nice stuff, its easier if someone asks a question with their wip.

Is the pitch riser here way too tropey? Also mixed on headphones no idea how it will translate. Keep re-configuring this until I can nail out a structure.

Imo, the pitch riser is a bit unnecessary. The sine-arp that slowly comes in sounds great on its own. Really nice track

So this isnt really a wip, but it was posted some time ago in this thread. I really loved it and it got signed alongside a remix from me and another original. One of my favorite tracks of the year so far. Great work evo8!

I realized something that, if something is on the back of your mind, it probably has to go, no if-and buts. Thanks for the ears.

Also yea I remember those tracks, congrats on the release -- disclaimer I really dislike that label because the label owner was very malicious to me in the past, but im sure he LOVES accepting demos and getting his free cut.

Im sorry to hear that, i got the almost opposite experience. One of the most friendly and trustworthy labels around

I probably shouldn't hold grudges as its unhealthy, so im willing to forgive; glad its working out for you guys.

Ok... been working on this for 5 days now, and I think its ready... to go straight in the garbage bin. I wanted something more minimal at first then the bass happened then cheese happened, I still cant get the bass to sit right or if that will ever happen. It sounds corny. Bright side? I may have progressed in something in some way hopefully.

*edit fuck it im deleting this track, its stupid.

heard your track before you took it off and it sounded solid as usual. I think its a classic case of spending too much time on it and getting sick of hearing it too often lol

Sounds good to me, feels a little baron though at times, would be nice if there was more sparkle maybe, was thinking maybe more developed string/orchestral section or perhaps even a vocal. Love that stab that comes in at 3:23. At the same time it could be fine just as it is, depending on what you want to achieve.

interesting, i kind of like the production, find the track a bit trippy as it develops, background pads are nice
initially the bassline is a bit weird but it kind of works in a strange way lol

i would increase the use of the vocals as the track progresses, just to increase the trippy feel
