tbh i think version you posted first was better. That plucks on start are nice, but i would rather use them later, or on the end. You had punchier kick before?

I don't know, maybe try to make a shorter version.

Love the musical idea, on the technical side the plucks may be a bit too drowned in delay, especially until 0:39.

i guess so? wouldnt get hung up on genres, lovely track, wonder how some epic strings in the background might sound towards the peak of the track??

It may have more sense now

Production wise the sub and kick are not blending and would recommend some sidechain compression.
Some of your higher frequency tones (as in the white noise splashes, cymbals on the shaker) are to bright and when the splash hits you kinda cringe away.
The overall feel of this track I can vibe on. I see more clarity than your first attempt and you capture some very nice atmosphere. Blending and normalizing each tone will go very far in this mix.
-------------------------

So, keeping to my goals for 2017 in creating originals and backing away from remixes, I decided to approach things a little differently.
I am wanting to work more on my leads, synth work and doing more sound design.
I found myself looking back into the library and pulling out tracks that didn't make the cut. Took parts and re worked them into this track.
Not sure what this is really but I keep finding myself interested in working it.
Very raw with a lot of placeholders but kinda digging the feel

Thanks. I didn't like the kick too, but it was late already, and i was more interested to findout if this work as a track. Did some sidechain on bass and kick but the kick is just not right. But yeah, it's better now, thanks to Richard and Evo hate on first version .

I don't know, i've listen a couple of times. Sounds good technicaly, and i can listen to it in background not bothering me, but i think you can do better melodies. Nice... but not thrilling

If i would try to do such a thing a little Frankenstein would come out for sure, so what you did is pretty good

Mate it's not quite a goer for me I'm afraid, but never mind, on and up - honestly I do 9 shit for 1 ok track at best

Really nice mate, your journey and reveal is spot on here, lovely catchy bass, good ole dusty drums, yes. One nitpick and it really might not be a good call by me but I felt you could do better toms / percs than the ones you have

Could you add in a simple couple of spoken words maybe in a dark style in the break - for me that would give it that last bit of personality, but not essential of course

thanks Rich, the bass definitely needs to be tamed a bit now that i listen again (i have very subtle vox there but i know what you mean)

on percs - yes. This is something i need to work on. Honestly, that is a loop there, i get lazy and dissatisfied with my own perc loops usually
Im thinking I might get either a drum machine or Push 2 - something where i can kinda mess around "playing" drums and see if i can get something better

was listening to the below track last night and getting inspiration, the drum loops in a lot of this stuff are so groovy and chunky, without being forced

plenty of stuff to work on in 2017

Thanks for the replies all...yea I hear what you are saying Richard.
I just can't get my head around why I am enjoying making this because they are rejects from other tracks. Ah well

This is very nice Evo. Like that floating pads and bass combo. Good stuff.

Like the inspiration choice too

dude if you are enjoying it that's all that matters - a lot of people lose sight of that (myself included)

I Like This!! Without a doubt Gordan I am seeing your atmospheric side of music creation. This is very vibey.
Clean this shit up bud, pull those higher frequency tones up /out
This could be YOUR track for sure!

Hey, thanks! Glad you like it. And thanks for the enthusiasm

I don't know, it sounds good to me on headphones, but somehow thin on monitors. I will play with this some more.

Actualy, i was trying to build something with binaural gamma frequency sound (which in theory "could maybe" stimulate brain activities like in people who practice deep meditation), but was too lazy to find out how to create such a sound in daw so i've just put a wav i found online as a background. In the end i removed the binaural tone, it didn't fit in really. But maybe it helped poking me in the brain all the time ..

Still planning to do something with binaural tones. I have been in some good states of trance for sure listening binaural sessions on youtube.
