Starts good, sounds good, but i don't know if it goes anywhere.. like most of my tracks

This is old stuff pimped again. Version 6.1. Hey, that's got to be pretty advanced version.

Can't upload on soundcloud for some reason.

(think you pulled it but i got to listen to it anyway)

yeah this has serious potential, kick and clap are rough but you can fix that easily

the way the bassline resolves, i wonder could you play around with that at certain points in the track just to give it that big uplifting feel? would be amazing i think

Yeah, this time it's actually not going anywhere by design. Just a lot of layers that pop out when you put on headphones.

this wont play again for me but it sounded like the kick didnt really fit right, sounded like an 808? sometimes they dont have that low mid punch but thats just how i hear it

Yeah, SC seems to have some playback issues right now.

Very nice work Richard, you got something special going on in there mate - as far as any suggestion (structurally) I would cut 1:31~2:02 part out of this WIP and the rest is pretty good to go - really nice flow man.

EDIT: Actually I would cut 1:15~2:05 exact lol.

Darek

Right so a couple of you say cut out that first break but but but are you sure?

Wouldn't then people think it was to samey not having this first break too?

Do you think it's 'correct' to have only one break - I hope so in a way as I find double breaks SUCH A BORE to make!

I think this is better work from you as it has more of a dance feel to it and the kik is good. I personally think there should be times when it reverts just to a stripped back kick and bass otherwise it sounds too samey all through

Honestly, I'd keep the first break and cut the second one. The first break was the best part of the entire track.

Ha, just goes to show we all have such a divergence of taste eh.

I guess I ought to go with my own gut on this - as I've been advised to many times before.

I am also pondering Dareks advice to add a pluk in drop 2 - that's the sort of thing I would naturally do but I'm also mindful I get a lot of feedback saying I over-do tracks.

Mmmm decisions

That is ultimately the point: if it sounds good to you, then it's right, no matter what anyone else says.

also - put breaks in where you see fit, or.... dont have any breaks

Hi Richard,

at least for me this wasn't your first break (didn't feel that way) - rather then your transition from intro to main part of your track - you have a lot of fx going on in this production to compensate for luck of regular breaks (and I like that way, make this track more interesting) so ultimately decision is yours and I can only offer my personal preferences/view on this beauty.

Cheers,

Darek

This is potentially very cool. I'm maybe wanting to hear a bit more groove in the bassline, or something. I'm not sure. There's some Orb DNA in here. I would definitely keep working on this one.

I like this. Bass is unusual but it works. I'm feeling the gated pad would benefit from some lush reverb to sit it back in the mix a little.

After what seems like ages just dicking about with hardware. I remembered software.

was gonna say its a bit generic sounding but the vocals are actually very nice

Thanks. I've completed the original mix now, and plan on doing a couple of different takes on it. There's something strange about this track that makes me love it more than my other recent work, even though technically it's much, much simpler.

Funnily enough I was aiming for generic. It's something to go behind some video work. Needs to not draw attention to itself. I'll most likely ditch most of the vocals for that version.

Sounds wooshy and lushy , i like it, vocal is nice.

This sounds like generic

Just a club track

maybe some more upsweeps / grinder uppers in the breaks?

I like it. Sounds good, it's groovy and vocal samples blends nicely.
