-- Gouryella - ligaya ( FOR ALL THOSE ON MY SIDE)

In another thread I said it was a masterpeice, but after more listening, I've decided it's just ok. So I guess I too am guilty of jumping on the gouryella bandwagon, but at least i can admit it :P

I don`t like the song at all, I find it rather boring as the other Gouryella productions.

Imo Walhalla is still the best Gouryella song. I`m not the first to say this but Ligaya is definitely overrated.

Your'e right

But I'll say this about pust lastest remixes too...

It's funny. Before Ligaya, whenever there were threads about Gouryella, they would get praises from half of everyone, and the other half would call them cheesy, over-rated, over-hyped.

Then Ligaya comes out, and all of a sudden Tenshi, Gouryella, and Walhalla are all epic masterpieces, and Ligaya can't even compare because Tiesto had nothing to do with it.

Ligaya kicks ass. In my opinion of course.

But let's stop with these bullshit arguments that become hypocritical: i.e. The argument that Gouryella is half Tiesto, so without Tiesto, it can't be nearly as good, coupled with the argument that if the name wasn't Gouryella then no one would pay attention to it.

I believe it to be a very well-produced effective song, and so do a lot of others. Let us just leave it be, and not start another 40 threads until it is released.

Posted by eXeTik on Aug-19-2002 19:31:

Agreed, some people actually like the track... but all the fuzz arround it is just cuz Gouryella produced it, if the exact same track would be produced by Ihan van dahl people would be flaming the crap outta it saying it's cheesy.

Just something to think about...

according to trance.nu tiesto just might do a remix of this. then it will be true GOURYELLA and you flamers still won't be satisfied!

*edit* haha look the monkey's dancing

Dunno

It may or may not be cheese. It may or may not be as good as past Gouryella songs. But it brings a tear to my eye. I love it!

Posted by dark_tenshi on Aug-20-2002 07:31:

I have to agree that Ligaya is just a mediocre track. Also, epic trance is really getting old and boring.

Posted by Veldrid on Aug-20-2002 07:53:

I agree that it is mediocre. I also think that the reason people dislike it so much is due to sheer disappointment. They have come to expect a certain quality from Gouryella and well.... this doesn't meet that expectation. I would think people would like it more if it was by someone else or if Corsten made it under his name and not Gouryellas.

I totally agree...
but its not that great..in comparison to the other
gouryella releases!

Posted by CortexBomb on Aug-20-2002 15:30:

I don't even think people dislike it *that* much...just because there aren't a ton of us on here saying "God, Ligaya is the pinnacle of trance, the year is saved, blah, blah, blah" doesn't mean that it's *horrible*, it just means that it's an average track.

Yes, if it was by someone other than Gouryella I might have lower standards/expectations, but it is, and I flat out wanted more from the track.

I still say that remixing could save this track, but we'll just have to wait and see I suppose.

at the end of the day too many people overhyped it as usual and another majot factor is that about 95% of you havnt even been out and heard it where it is meant to be heard, then maybe you will understand why sum of us liek this track, mp3's are shit and never portray the fu,ll extent of the musics effect but maybe thats why tiesto seems so popular yes? trance music is made to be experienced primarily in a club, so only judge a tune fully when u hear it there. you can say that you do not liek it as is, but going on as if its nothing is pretty rediculous. this behaviour may be being brought about by peopel gimpishly overhyping the track, and i can undertsand that. but whats the point in all the "ligaya is shit" "no it is the best tune ever" behaviour. you get my point everyone?

Dude, I understand your argument, and hell, I Love Ligaya, but most of the time I can tell if I like a song by it's structure, it's melody, it's synths. It may not be as awe-inspiring if it's playing out of my Klipsch Promedia v5.1 as 50 Club speakers all with 15's, but you can still get the jest of the song usually.
