Yes! Nice work.

Unfortunately Sasha told Hit last year it was over for good: I dont really have anything nice to say about John any more so Id probably rather not say anything. This is a surprise to Digweed. I didnt know we had fallen out, is that we he said? he asks. Nah, Ive never said well never play together again. For us or for me personally it was like we need a break, weve been playing together over 17 years so theres definitely no bad feeling my end. |
I don't think it's unreasonable to speculate that this has more to do with Sasha's falling out with Digweed rather than some kind of mutual rift. Sasha's been a notoriously high maintenance diva since at least Delta Heavy, whereas Digweed by many accounts is as every bit as laid back as his mid 2000's beach-bum haircut would suggest, and you can even sense that in the interview- Sasha takes a passive aggressive jab at Digweed, Digweed basically replies with 'huh?', and moves right along with his life.
personally i don't normally listen to the songs john plays but when he DJs it sounds pretty good to me. i think the worst I've seen him was 7.5/10.
from my encounters seeing sasha he's been good about half the time, and maybe the best I've seen him live id give an 8-9/10.
some of that elitist techno scene stuff is rubbing down to other sub-genres, where the label or artist has to be uncommon and vinyl only or complete trash. IMO john deserves his popularity and ill continue to see him DJ as he's yet to disappoint (although I've focussed mostly on techno for the past few years).
side note: ill never understand ricardo villalobos... the onetime i went to see him he was too fucked up to beat match and mix, and too fucked up to realize it. fool was dancing by himself behind the decks when half the people stopped dancing and started shouting at him LOL. i hear sasha gets pretty fucked up on occasion still too

Originally posted by dj christian This is what i was going to write. Really who listens on them anyway in this day and age? Last good sets they had were around 2006-2008. Their heydays were in the nineties. I can't thank them enough for how much they have brought me in the world of electronic music. I still from time to time listen to their older compilations, mixes and what not. I have nothing against them personally or anything like that but their music choices has been out of touch for at least a decade. |

Originally posted by SYSTEM-J If anything, most of his high-maintenance behaviour came well before Delta Heavy. By that point he was taking his career pretty seriously, and in the Delta Heavy DVD he talks about he had to sign a hefty no-appearance clause in his contract due to his past reputation. In the '90s, going right back to the start of his career, he was absolutely infamous for missing gigs. The very first time he was supposed to play with Digweed was at a night Diggers was promoting - and he never showed up. |

Originally posted by Godking5 That story is hilarious. Ive heard similar stories about what you recalled. He has a nickname , "ibiza bad boy" for a reason. Ive never seen him perform but when i think about it, i wonder if it is something like Troxler tanked and full 'tard' behind the decks that infamous video . But , supposedly when he not wacked out of his mind, he is really something special. |

Originally posted by ucforange I understand that people have their likes and dislikes, but I just can't wrap my head around statements like this... I can't speak for places elsewhere in the world outside of the Miami/Orlando/Tampa scene, but Digweed absolutely packs the house for his WMC shows. His show at Treehouse last March was sold out within a week or so. I could count the amount of non-"EDM" shows using my ten fingers that actually sold out -- and his show was probably the first. Also: his WMC boat cruise sells out and is RSVP only -- at $200 a ticket. So yeah, there might be a tiny audience for him and the music that he spins. In all honesty, his style isn't too unlike the Innervisions stuff. But he's a more well-rounded DJ and is more prone to play "outside the box" than even guys like Dixon. Deeper repertoire. In my opinion, statements like yours are usually made by people whom have biased preconceptions of a DJ and their music. Usually easier to write off than it is actually objectively listen to the music... Of course if you flat out don't like the sound, fine, but c'mon don't dismiss it because it's not your cup of tea. |
Surprise appearance by Sasha at Bedrock @ MoS last nite and they did indeed play together.
Yeah, Facebook is going nuts over it. People speculating that they might tour together again now Renaissance has come back under the control of Geoff Oakes.
well, even if I don't pay attention to anything they're doing currently I'd have to go see them if they toured again. :P
The sets I saw them play back when they were last in GA and also the last Miami Sunset Cruise they did together were actually pretty great.

Wonder if those 2 guys could still sell out stadiums in the this day and age ?
Minimal lighting. Head-down prog groove. DJs but a silhouette in the booth. Are we sure this vid isn't from fifteen years ago?
I approve.
wtf no one taking pictures
impressive, really.
They were playing together 5 minutes walk from my flat while I was asleep. Damn
I'd definitely go see them if they toured together.
The sasha - digweed duo at its prime was before my time. I wasnt even a teenager yet. so i would be thrilled at the prospect to see them perform together. Very cool news indeed
I need to move to London.
So I guess it wasn't an April Fools joke?
