If you're interested, you can rename the track to an original, stick it on an ep or something and use the stems as I ofcourse do not mind.

[email protected] is the mistique label email, please email if you need more clarification, as I do not contact them anymore; I would like to leave that stuff in the past. Hope you understand.

Nah, I had just forgotten all about it until just now so I thought I'd ask. I'm not even sure I have the file any more.

oooh drama. What happened? You had some great releases with them. Did they do the usual digital label thing and basically never pay you even though they sold enough of them?

Posted by MSZ on Mar-09-2018 20:34:

Not to my knowledge no, I have nothing bad to say about them.

really like this Nik. It reminds me of the sort of this that Chris raven used to put out circa 99. Lots of moody vibe but something growling underneath. I think you should expand on that synth that starts to come in around 0:50. Nice work.

Yeah, I've been working on it for some time after that clip, and it's starting to take shape.

Erm... First post here, I hope I'm doing this right:

(I love how someone else other than Tony liked my tracked last night but seems to have changed their mind, hehe)

Like Evo8 said, there's too much stuff going on at the same time, and it's all a bit too loud. I guess if you brought the beats more to the foreground, and distributed the elements more evenly throughout the track, this would sound even better

What software synths did you use?

First of all your drums are in the bright site and kick is lost in layers of differents sounds (need to have more punch).

Second, I would very your bass line a bit as of right now it stays on monotone site for my liking.

Lastly, I would create some movement in your track (swing) with side-chain some of your synths to your kick - it will add some interesting effect to this otherwise melancholic/nostalgic production.

Cool work man.

Lira,

nice to see you again on this site of the forum lol -> my first impression (after two runs) is that your production is on dry site (or flat) and this my be the reason why people don't want to comment on your track (or like it ) - you have some cool things happening in it but your delivery doesn't do the justice

Drums variation are good but again no punch (drive) is making it stand out and is not driving this whole track.

As far as your bass, try to change your pattern to create some movement.

Also I would use some reverb to add some dramatic effect (in some parts of your production).

Overall idea sounds really cool and remind me on 007 James Bond soundtrack

Cheers,

Darek

This stuff has some nice potential but it all depends on the direction you will take this production to.

Melodic part is well establish and underneath sub-theme is nicely driving this WIP

Drums are really cool man but when you combine them with your bass line creates this fundamentally sweet and solid base for your whole production - me like it

Cheers,

Darek

I like it, it's a cool idea. At 3:00 i would maybe put some contrast to that theme you are playing before continuing with it. Will not comment the mix, better than mine for sure

Thank you all for the feedback on "Robot in love". I'll take a break now from that one for a few days/weeks to flush my ears completely and then try to do something with it.

Just Quick Concept for Delelopment

This is just fresh concept which I started to work on yesterday - still lots of things to improve (like intro drums, bass variations, ect.) but overall idea is already there:

Thank guys.

Thanks for the welcome! And, yeah, I was looking for feedback because it's been ages since I last hung around here, and I know there's still much to learn to get that extra "oomph"

The flat bit you mentioned is what you're saying about bass and drums below, or do you think it could use some more variation with the different elements?

Is there a specific element in particular that you think needs some more reverberation?

Good idea, thanks!

As for the mix, I often struggle with it myself, so I'm sure I can learn from you if you have an idea

This flat/dry element is a complex subject in this case (don't get me to serious lol - I'm not theory gig and never will be lol) - I think it is variation in instruments choices, sounds levels, drums pick, overall mix and balancing overall progression development - I usually start with drums and bass line to create good movement/vibe then I'm adding some instruments one by one for melodic concept - hopefully this make any sense

Cheers,

Darek

I like the kick, but there is no groove at the start Darek, that pad starting at 0:16 does not produce enough groove imo and it's too simple, and bass at 0:31 is bloodless and did not help. Also, everything start to sound a bit lofi when beefed up snare hits at 0:31. Arp is a bit dull when static, but it start to work for me after 2:04 and you could maybe do something with that.

I have a feeling that you are starting from intro and then trying to get something out of it. That rarely works for me. Not saying it's better in general but i usually start from climax of the track, maybe that way will work better for you too. Cheers!

Yes, as I mention in my post that intro drums will need to be develop a bit more to have some cool groove in it but this was my last worry element in this whole WIP - in this Progressive-Chill-House track my emphasis was put on slowly unwinding melodic development with different instruments sounds rolling through this track with its own melodic pattern - also I never start my work on any track with intro - always with melodic chords pattern and everything build around it

Added: Also bass pattern will be rework in second part of the track.

Cheers mate and appreciate your word

Darek

hey buds, been a while. this not technically a WIP but I've been balls deep in production lately fortunately, had some sporadic breaks from music past year or 2 due to, well, life... will make an effort to come through and feedback some of your tunes here.

I like it, production is very good. It would be a nice background music for some horror fps

I would also mono a bit more of the low end of the mix, Live has a nice plugin called Utility for this, not sure what DAW you are on

Also drums might need some variation - i really like the intro but it gets slightly drowned out, you bring down the pad/pluck by 1-3db until it sits better

any chance I could do a remix of this? im struggling to do any tracks of my own right now

I like how it sounds so far. It's short though, don't know where it's going yet
