I just looked up where Lajamanu is, talk about being in the middle of nowhere!

Australia is just too chilled back.. a bit behind the times though. But I love it!!

Posted by Lilith on Mar-07-2010 03:07:

You stay in Brisbane, that's hardly fair.

Posted by Fledz on Mar-07-2010 03:12:

Apparently not teaching intelligent design, not having free gun laws and not having an overzealous legal system is behind the times

That is true I'm not complaining though.

A bit behind the times in terms of technology mind you..

can't believe that the politicians here are trying to implement an internet filtering system..

Do you mean you can't believe they've taken this long to, or that they're doing it at all?

plenty of countries already have filtering systems. not that im defending it or anything, but people act like australia is the first free nation to try. they're not.

Of course not. We're just the first country to copy absolutely everything from other countries and can't come up with something that's tailored for us, not just some Yank/Pom/whatever hack job of an idea.

Posted by Lilith on Mar-07-2010 05:27:

Yes, but they do stand a chance of coming in as being one of the most ineffectual and waste of taxpayers dollars attempts so far.

Posted by Ash Parajuli on Mar-07-2010 07:46:

i dont think australia really needs an internet filtering system to begin with, not to mention the taxpayers will be funding it.. plus it's a flawed filter, and people will just easily bypass it.

the government is also investing a lot of money in a national high speed broadband network, but with the filter in place, it will effectively slow the internet down which then defeats the purpose of the high speed broadband network.

id rather see investment in public transport, and other things australia lacks in compared to a lot of other developed nations.

apart from melbourne, sydney and brisbane have horrible public transport.

No shit?

And public transport isn't that bad in Brisbane (though I don't use it much any more).

I would say they gave us Flight Of The Conchords, but they're from New Zealand. Hmm...back to square one.

When I First Saw Some Of Their Videos I Thought They Were From Australia But After Watching The Series I Found Out How Mistaken I Was.

Austraila = SRS DOWNER

How Can You Not Tell NZ and Australia Apart? Especially Given How Often The Flight Of The Conchords Make Mention Of Them Being From NZ And Make Jokes About Australia And Australians. Really, You Must Have Just Missed About 80% Of The Jokes From That Show.

I just want to take a moment to point out how bloody hard it is to capitalise the first letter of every word you write. Its such a pain in the arse, how can someone write like that?

Posted by Sushipunk on Mar-08-2010 01:20:

lol

Probably home-schooled.

Such a weird practice that one, you might get a smart parent and not turn out an awkward social misfit that thinks Jesus rode dinosaurs or something, but chances are you'll just get an ordinary parent and end up a dud.

I'm Giving It A Go Right Now And It Is Really Hard Because You Automatically Don't Capitalise The First Letter Of The Word So You Have To Go Hit Delete A Few Times, I Guess It's Kind've Like Moving Your Hands In A Circle Around Your Belly and Also On The Head Simultaneously.

That Took Me 1 Minute+ Than If I Hadn't Capitalized It.

No that many around here either, especially not the GT 2-door.

That's because it's all fine up until the point you have to turn a corner, then fall off the road and hit something hard. It's why they're so rare, very few left that haven't actually had to turn a corner.

Yes, it's not a car you'd refer to as 'nimble'
