Phil, i agree with Richard, some notes sounds off

This is a new attempt on mixing this. Some parts still seems unstable/clashing.

I think that is for sure due to the sub which is ducking on the sidechain to hard. But in fractional moves on the threshold I still somehow lose a chunk of dynamics from my kick. So I cant even seem to balance it out because the change from 14db-16db is dramatic

I dont have monitors or speakers just some panasonic boombox but I'd go as far as I think this some of your best work or rather that I've enjoyed, sounds very gentle.

some junk I mixed on said boombox. probably sounds embarrassing.

You got a big rich mix there mate, I dunno quite how you do that. The track itself doesn't move me that much though.

I was super amazed by your liquid DnB you put on here a few yrs back, in fact that got me into liquid DnB. are u still making such stuff, your atmosphere and pads were as good as it gets?

Posted by MSZ on Sep-11-2018 20:49:

Its been a while since I wrote any kind of drum and bass, I think I made one that was actually pretty good but, actually haven't made anything in good in quite some years, just in general. I just go with the flow, try to recreate some sounds I enjoy sort of. Trying to veer into some more slightly weird territories, don't want to remake a track done a million times over, which leads me to not making any music most of the time. Most of my passion is mainly gone, its up to you now.

I have a playlist going sometimes from youtube under some guy's account "Fluidified", he seems to post some nice atmospheric breakbeat tracks there, if you're looking for some; you'll have to do some digging though, theres some junk there, too.

thank you sirrr - I don't give af about loudness, I just try to get it to sound how I want, I listen to a lot of the older stuff for inspiration

I like the pads in this track very much -the groove not as much as your other tracks
totally get that you want to keep changing your sound

p.s. something odd going on with your panning, maybe intentional?

How you doing Mac, what happen to your studio setup man? - what are you producing on right now? - as far as your track I'm only going to talk about delivery (my listening experience) as this style of music is not my favorite lol - first of all your sound is coming unbalance on one side of my headphones also there are some low freq fighting going on in your production which could be the fact that you don't have system setup at the moment - overall (as some people before me said it already) this WIP will require some rework to be potentially as good as your previous productions man (and you already have what you need to create awesome track Mac).

My $0.02

if all the sound is coming from one side I think your headphones are broken because as evo pointed out only the pad is really coming in more from the left than the right, which im totally cool with; but the patch is strange with the detuning might be causing dissonance, I just went with it meh. Dont have much low end right now cant judge but you're probably right. Hopefully sennheiser hd 600's will be on sale @ black friday coming up.

more than the pads seemed panned

good set of headphones is all you need as long you have something subby to occasionally check for too much rumble

I do a lot of actual mixing in my headphones, only problem is my ears get fucked after a while

This maybe the case what Phil is pointing out as I can hear drums being pushed more to one side.

Cheers,

is it really that bad? my ears must be fucked.

pretty much everything is panned left, kick is what makes it really noticeable
unless Soundcloud is acting up id say you left some funky effect on your master channel or something?

Posted by TranceLover007 on Sep-12-2018 19:51:

I guess I'm getting old lol as this particular style of music resonate recently with me - this is latest lounge track with mix of piano, trumpet and guitar - enjoy

Still pre-master version at this moment.

to my ears yes maybe someone else can verify

that looks like a single channel? like you printed the left channel only

Posted by MSZ on Sep-12-2018 20:27:

*scratches head. I did a spectrograph and db graph, they're not that odd apart. Ill return to this thread when I get a new soundcard and something to listen on. See u in a few months.

Posted by DJ RANN on Sep-12-2018 20:35:

Are you printing to stereo from a single channel? This smacks of a single channels vs single mono channel issue.

Posted by MSZ on Sep-12-2018 20:45:

no wtf.

Thats decent, it reminds me of classic brilliant 80's funk/soul which even a lot of kids I know seem to listen to right now, such as

Ya know. This loungy jazzy vibe is cool and you do it really well.
For me, I like producing it myself as well. But for some freakin reason I just can't sit in the car and listen to it. And you have no idea how hard it is for me to complete a track because listening over and over just ...ugh
This track is nice. I couldn't help but pay attention to your kick. Granted it seemed mid rangy in parts but the lowend was lost. Not sure if that was a creative intention or not. To me, it just seemed lackluster.
Sub on the second half could use a little boost but love the progression you take it.

Overall a really chill groove ::thumbs up::

Here's another liquid dnb for my EP if you guys think it's going somewhere.

Need to add a few bits to it.
Good enough for the EP or not?

I'm quite inspired because I'm getting some decent sweeping pads & leeds out of my Roland JDXA lately. Everything here is JDXA except drums and bass.

Fuk now this is epic and so intelligent. Loving the way the kik and drums sound like a crazed bloke next door playing live, thats very cool

If u dont finish this, hand it over to me and I will.., seriously good

Maybe the synths are slightly harsh in the intro before the break, need a bit of saturation and verb perhaps.
