Although I can appreciate the composition and (semi) arrangement, I do believe this track needs..help.

I am finding your sample selection a bit redundant. Yes, in parts of your composition there are "breaks" and little bits that break the monotony of the song. However, the samples themselves need more "tonality". They need life in them. There is no wave shifting, non existent filters,no panning, not even any cutoff.

Percussion is flat, needs a lot more attention in the kick. Not sure if any EQ has been applied or compression but highly suggest it. You have different individual percussion stems that are seemingly with their own volume levels.

Sorry man, hope this doesn't come off as negative. Not my intention.
On a different note, this track does have potential, I just think you need to rethink it.

Posted by SystematicX1 on May-05-2019 21:03:

I decided this year on attention to detail and not just creating for the sake of creating. In years past I have just been creating and creating but majority was not anything to really be proud of. I found myself liking "elements" and pieces of songs I created but could never gel them together. So, I kept on trying to make something that really was nothing. Not this year...
Now, if I am in creative mode I am giving myself 24 hours to fully engage in a track. If by then I am not feeling it, it get's tossed.
Going in with that mentality has allowed my workflow to speed up. I don't waste unnecessary time on a track that isn't flowing.
With that said, I have managed to pull a few songs out in a goal to make 4-5 tracks that would possibly attract label interest.
Out of about 8 bodies of work I have about two so far that I am liking, and this is one possibility.
Needs alot of work still and very much a wip with no mix, especially in the percussion,808 and sub regions but I like where it is going and very different for me.

Dj ryan remember long time ago I told you to slam everything into a pancake through a limiter/compress first. dont do that, im sorry.

yeah but didnt have great effect.. from the oil at least...
I tink im more a fan of cannabinol (cbn) which you get if you don't store your weed properly :P gonna hopefully have access to kush&cookies which is a heavy cbd variety and a cbd cross of amnesia. although the second is an auto.
i like all the cb's really..

yikes, sorry men. you're best off with using cbd oil rather than bud, but you build up a tolerance rather quick, and full spectrum cbd oil is not cheap, and you also have to expirement with different carrier oils and it does happen to matter. I know there is some hemp varient cbd extraction which is cheap but you need some thc in there and the costs add up quick, you might be lucky for a tax deductible.

tried cbd oil, but it was foul and worked poorly. i've had a few oils that were very good, the owner of my spanish dispensary/club had one that was woooooot, and made me feel so good but never had any luck re-creating it 100%. And neither did he haha. He had burned the weed accidentally, like a bit, so it tasted foul but the effect was insane. Basically just cannabinoids fused into high fat veg oil.
I also did make some pure extracts for a period, which was fun, but meeeh.. Tried iso, qwiso and diy'd a rosin press lol... i had some african hash that i had cured under moon light that i pressed that turned all red and tasted like menthol which is a suretell sign for cbn, which is yummy-sleepy-feelokay and not insta-space-jam.. but yeah, need some thc in there too, for sure...

but dude, tax deductible? i live in norway lol, i pay taxes on my taxes!! :P

Very nice Gordan, well done. Those pads reminds of the days of Flying Lotus was on repeat in my iPod, good job. If It were up to me I would try to make the bass drum more authoratative to lead the synths, pads and percs etc..

Thanks Juan, i'm glad you like it!

------------

Second track with the new neighbour taking a different turn . The latter half probably will be maintained for a full track.

really digging that second part, I have no crits because I suck and dont have monitors anyway, sounds pro on and clean on my boombox, but so does everything.

i has some new mud, I might rip out all the mids and leave the bass maybe.

Om to the motherfucking nom.

Very GU, exactly the sort of stuff I want to hear deep in to a set at 2am. There's something I really like about the rhythm and the percs are tight.

I can't comment much else right now becuase I'm listening on those in ear buds that you get free when you fly a shitty airline, but will have a proper listen when I'm home with my AIAIAI cans and JBLs.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on May-19-2019 17:09:

Yeah, I wouldn't mind buying that when its finished

Posted by Hides in Shadow on May-20-2019 06:54:

& ffs, someone give this guy some monitors

Posted by MSZ on May-20-2019 16:52:

Ill work on it some more when I can listen to it somewhere properly. I dont see the benefit of spending so much money on something right now at this point in my life, and 5-6.5 inch budget monitors are all trash.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on May-20-2019 19:04:

I agree with that sentiment if you have medium to big room and with the smaller low driver woofer you go the more treatment you need to hear the low frequencies imo from user experience, I'm sure Rann can correct me if wrong.

Finally I nailed down the Bass department, ready to some melody research.

Posted by MSZ on May-20-2019 20:24:

I have no crits but that sounds very competent and clean from what I can tell, i'll listen again if u progress.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on May-20-2019 20:41:

Thanks bro, next will be a finished render, so atm I got pads, leads, percs, bass and all thats left is chord change crescendo.

Legit. Probably one of your best tracks Pauli. Recommendation totally as I am unsure of your thought pattern and creative intention,but..
That rolling arp/bass line, if I could suggest pitching/transposing it down -1 -2 semitones. I think that would give you a better mid feel instead of the mixed mid/high filter separation. Totally just a thought

I tried brotha, that anjuna baseline I tried I replicate ever since I started, its 3 OSC baseline on the Roland JDXI. Each oscillator is an octave apart detuned little also. I just started nailing it down this morning and got better results with other synths. I'll see what I can do after doing my chord change final render.

Edit: Sorry I had water in my eyes from shower, now I can't transpose it cuz it would conflict with the rest of the track and its in G sharp Minor scale. In the intro I plan on adding one or two stereo mid basses, one with 0.9 MS sample delay.

Posted by Hides in Shadow on May-21-2019 00:13:

Ok, I put the Mid Bass in the intro with the JDXI and replaced the sub with, wait for it, Lennar Digital Sylenth 1 which in this time it gave me an Armin like baseline. If it sounds better let me know.
