I couldn't have worded it any better.

A trance listener criticizing hip hop(/pop) for its lack of creativity is just the same as those who listen to hip hop(/pop) and criticize trance for the same reasons. It's just basically the pot calling the kettle black. There's no need to bash others' opinions of music, just respect what they like and listen to what you enjoy and everyone will be happier in the end.

i respect what people like, but i dont respect it when people listen to one kind of music becaues everyone else does, and the record companies and all these mainstream artists know that a lot of sales are made by people just like this... it just pisses me off

Posted by UWM on Sep-14-2004 21:15:

If you were in the recording industry to make a living I'm sure you would do the same thing.

of course, but since im not, i dont

hey guys. i'm in milwaukee as well.

someone way back at the start of this thread mentioned me. don't know why. i post here like once every few months.

i'm usually in the third ward (just barely south of downtown milwaukee, on the lake but not yet southside). I go to school at the milwaukee institute of art and design.

i'm only 19, turning 20 on nov. 7. so clubs mean nothing to me since anything decent is 21+ and since Pure lost their license and went 18+ they can't book shit in terms of decent dj's.

anybody else from wisco a DJ? i've been at it for a year and a half now and really want to get to know some other fellow DJs here.

oh and by the way, UWM, i'm assuming you go to UWM (meaning either UW Mil, or UW Mad, which one?) and what's your name? i know a few people at mil and mad, maybe you know of or have heard of them.

i'm doing interior architecture.
it's my sophomore year and it's a ton of work but yeah it's still really cool. and there are a ton of hotties here . only problem is nobody listens to trance or any kind of electronica for that matter. i've found seriously 3 people at my school that have heard of PVD and he's like the biggest name next to Oakie.

ok guys. is it just me or have we had plenty of responses to get this thing a sticky.

In case you've seen me around, you know i'm Milwaukee also. Use to be into big beat, still am a little bit, but I been getting into more trance lately. I'm a huge listener of Oakenfold and BT. Anybody go to UW-Milwaukee? (Besides UWM possibly?)

Posted by tylerc on Dec-09-2004 23:55:

did you happen to catch them at Summerfest 2 years ago? what a night... i was fuckin crocked.

Posted by mrmsn on Dec-10-2004 16:30:

I saw oakenfeld listed, but failed to miss it. I did think it was wierd to have them at Summerfest - but cool at the same time.

Anyone hitting BT next Friday? I know it is at the RAVE and not the best venue - just thinking have to show the support to keep people coming.

Now - Madison I think it is an untaped location.

Richie Hawtkins sold out this past summer - granted not trance but still support for EDM. Casbah is have nights, Nat Spill (sp?) also has people spinning live, Cardinal has some good nights, Inferno has everything EDM - a bit more goth/harder but there have been good sessions, Majestic i am not sure what happened there but it would be a cool place - just never heard any decent music there.

<-----

but it's "cool" to hate on trance now.....

trance-haters are usually posers anyway.
