I have to say it's pretty sensational to see the whole music industry taking action against this site lol. As it should! Get 'em boys!

I was considering calling that number, but I wouldn't suggest it, seeing as it's an 08700 number. Could be another 'side-scam'.

i don't want to do the whole translation but it says that the site is not based in England but it's a russian hacker action, and it must be a mafia conspiracy...

i phoned it and no answer. but yeah def there is some russian involvement, just hope that doesnt mean they cant be fucked over

Posted by EssentialParado on Oct-09-2004 21:26:

Wow. I just dug up something extremely interesting:

http://www.russianlondon.com/direct...nt=65&mlang=eng

and match the two addresses. That would understand why the site is registered in russian and the names of the people who run the site are also russian.

There's another phone number there. A non-premium one. Maybe someone wants to check it out.

I'm glad they've got none of my tracks. If they did, I'm sure they'd misspell my handle. >_<

I wanted to look into their "unliscenced tracks are not sold" theory, but considering that registration is required beforehand, I forwent that path. Oh, well.

Hm, I found a track om mine too. This is lame but I can't do anything about it because the track isn't signed to anything. So what the guy is doing is legal.

And the fun part, "Vinyl Remix" and it's never been released or anything. Sell my stuff, oke, but lie. They are so stupid.

BTW: don't mail to the site, mail to labels / producers or Buma/Stemra.

No it is not legal. If you haven't approved it to appear on the site.

But who will believe me? And like I said, it's not signed anywhere so I can't prove I made the track at all.

Edit: well it's not legal, but I can't sue them or antything

Well you propably have the project files.

And that letter they're sending out is just utter bullshit.
If they don't have license to sell something they shouldn't even have it there with price tag or anything..

Jep, but that doesn't mean that I've made the track.

Offcourse will many people believe me but the evidence isn't hard enough to sue or anything.

Holy crap, I actually got a real response.

Dear Nikolai

I want to apologize for we make you worry. Jetgroove didn't sell your tracks, we never did it with out license. Our customers could only put it on hold and listen the preplay for it. I have deleted your track. Now they are not avavable not only for purchase but for putting on hold too. Tommorow after the reindexation of the site it willn't be placed on Jetgroove. Please look for other your releases tommorow for we could delete it.

Best regards,

Vladimir Agrest

news from bozaimusic.com:

ILLEGAL MUSIC SALES/SHARING
Another good example of illegal music sales and sharing on the website of a so called fake new digital download store called Jetgroove, please inform us if you find any tracks from the Banshee Worx - Bonzai Music catalogue as we have not given any permission for this and are undertaking legal action against them. Thank you for sending email to info@bonzaimusic.com

Hi Luke
Thanks for this - we've been told about this by a number of our members.
Our anti-piracy unit are aware and we're looking into it.

Although the site is still there now..

quote:
During first three days JetGroove received an enormous amount of attention from users, record labels, artists, authors and publishers. And this attention brought some contradictions to the light of music community. The music community was disappointed at some parts of our website and made some wrong assumptions. We wanted to clear up all misunderstandings that arose so we want to explain our position how our website is organized and business is led.

JetGroove is the unique project that we created to give the worldwide exposure to independent record labels and artists, producing alternative music. The way our website organized is:

First part of the website - music, that is represented by record labels who already signed contracts with JetGroove. These tracks are available to be purchased and downloaded.
Second part of the website - information about music that is placed on the website for promotion of independent record labels and artists. These "tracks" could not be purchased or downloaded. However they could be put ON HOLD. As soon as this happens, record label or artist to whom this track belongs is contacted with the offer of doing business with JetGroove. This greatly increases the exposure for many of the record labels.

The line that JetGroove is going to continue to follow is: LEGAL SALES ONLY. The project was created to give independents a good chance of being known in the world, and earning money, not to make them suffer again as they do from p2p systems. And the least thing JetGroove planned to do is to violate rights of record labels, publishers, artists or authors. JetGroove officially states that if you are not interested to have your tracks on www.jetgroove.com, you should contact JetGroove immediately and all the information we have about your tracks will be taken off the website ASAP.

All along I have felt you might have jumped to conclusions with this website. There are a lot more places doing much more worse than this place. I am starting to believe their intentions are true. And It does appear they actually have made deals with artists already. If this is a chance for you guys to make some money from your music, then i'd say it's good.
There is the matter that they didn't ask permission to use details of the track and, what's even worse, put a listen-able sample of the track online. They are wrong there, but otherwise, I just think the way they set up their site may have just got you guys jumping to conclusions.

meh thats bollox. whether they havent sold anything or not, there is still the fact that every track listed on there is a "scene rip" wether its being sold or not

Posted by Jay M on Oct-12-2004 18:00:

They're offering music against a price, which must imply: 1) they have that music available for download, unless something like "out of stock" is stated there as well, 2) they have permission to sell the music.

Another thing, who/what is checking whether they really didn't or cannot sell tracks without permission? There must be some instance who checks this?

Posted by Kinde on Oct-12-2004 18:32:

I wouldn't trust my credit card details on these Russian scammers. It's a shame that they have very dodgy operating and marketing tactics since the site itself looks pretty good to me...

weird the way they're organised... but they replied to my mail too... although i was just a *user* telling them my point of view about arts/artists, & their website. Their reply sounded sincere and honnest...
