looks like a nice little venue, definitely something i'd check out if i was in the area. rap was awesome at lovefest

I have good and bad things about that place. from what I hear the crowd is kinda wanky though

Its an upscale bar/lounge, really nice inside and out but the people there are so annoying. Mostly snooty people in Sac trying to be cool

I wish there was an EDM scene here

The Park is THE only nice upscale club/lounge in Sac. Very nice location, decor, sound, etc. But as Mr Stroke said the scene in Sac died in 2002 (R.I.P.) and so every club, both upscale and shitty, all blow because of the crowd. They just want hiphop/top40 and don't know how to act. With that said The Park is still worth checking out at least once especially with a nice act like DJ Rap (plus the 2 way mirror in the bathroom is nice to see hot girls flash you from the other side )

that sucks about the park, but i guess it figures... like every other place outside of sf and la that tries to have a nightlife, they all end up being go-out-to-be-seen crowds :\

Ruby Skye NYE was the only event we've been to since Halloween...

We'll be back in full affect soon -- infact I'm thinking of going to B&J @ Spundae's anniversary...

It was ubercrowded but my gf got us upstage which was far less congested. Opening dj was great, loved when he dropped Eric Prydz vs. Pink Floyd - Positive Education because the bass was SO hard in ruby's system. Crystal Method was sick as fuck too and they were having a great time djing. We had a great time, great friends, drinks were flowing, midnight hit and there was a shit storm of red confetti and all was well. Then after 9 drinks at around 2am I went to the bathrooms and almost lost it. Came out 20 mins later to find my gf was completely wasted and a friend was watching her for me. We planned on partying till late morning (ruby was serving breakfast and coffee at 4am and bar reopened at 6am, hell our friends were at ruby till 9am) and checking into our hotel at noon a block away at the hilton but things changed. I ended up having to sober up to take care of the situation and book another hotel for $340 (fucking nye night) and we were there only 7-8hrs. So it was an amazing night with amazing music and everything from 11pm - 2am.

Rich: thank you soooooooooo much for this set...I remember the beats were so sick and kicking myself for getting so wasted and ruining the rest of their set.






PS. Our New Years Resolution: no more getting hammered till we can barely stand.
