Is it going to massively dent my street cred if I say that no vinyl was ripped in the making of these mixes?
Although more generally I've never found rips to be too much of a problem, although I've probably only played like 1 or 2 out in a live scenario and if I'm at home I just get the record out

Originally posted by djdk Cheers mate ![]() There was a bit of pre-planning, although a bit more than I'd like if Im honest. My intention is to not spend too much time on planning a perfecting (my wife will be pleased with this), making them more stream of conciousness . I'm working on a new tagging system for all my music which will hopefully allow this to happen much easier. I do find it difficult to not be an obscene perfectionist when I'm playing at home just for me without the feedback of a crowd or the power of a large system. I tend to over analyse each mix and tune selection and it can kinda suck some of the enjoyment out of it. I'm wondering whether to broadcast on mixlr or similar to get that "live" pressure back on. Although having said that I was dead chuffed with the way the last three tracks on the second one flow together and that wasn't planned in advance. ![]() |
Cheers mate, appreciate it
When are you back over here?

Some absolutely awesome music for me to steal here mate
In September, I'm moving to London!(Unless my visa falls through, which I feel is quite unlikely.) Quite excited about it!
Ah nice, as it happens the next gig in my diary is in Brixton on 20th September
Jack - links duly added
Jon - Steal away sir!
This weeks instalment; rave breaks acid techno shiz
I somewhat apologise for the slightly schizophrenic nature of these mixes. If you were hoping for a consistent genre each week you might be a little disappointed, but hopefully it will be consistently good music

Originally posted by chris1011 AMAZING! I'm currently applying for a job, if I get it I'll be in the UK until 2017. This means all of us can meet up and have a musical orgy. |

Originally posted by Lews If I have any say in the matter, I will be there! Been wanting to see you play out for several years now, and if you're performing near where I live, that will be perfect!(I expect I'll be there, I just can't predict that far in the future to guarantee I'll be there ![]() That would be awesome! I absolutely loved when I met up with Jack and Jon in 2012 - can't wait to see them again and meet you and Dave. What job are you applying for? And you got an MA in IR, correct? Or am I remembering that incorrectly lol |

Originally posted by chris1011 Just a standard research job. My plan is to bank money, pay off a few loans, and use Ryanair+couchsurfing to travel to a few more places on this side of the world. That is provided I get the job ![]() I will have my MSc in Terrorism, Security and Policing. We do a lot of work on IR though ![]() |

Originally posted by Lews Yeah, I definitely am going to have some major loans to pay off soon lol Are you interested in getting a doctorate, or are you more interested in the hands-on stuff and want to get a job in the field? |

Originally posted by chris1011 I am definitely not interested in a doctorate. Not right now anyways. I've been in school too long and have accumulated too much debt to be comfortable with ![]() I would want to get my hands dirty and have 'hands-on' experience in the field tbh. |
Dave, listened to 003. Just the same as the others, some of these tunes were not my bag but there were loads that were. OMG DAT ACID
These are cool little sets, dude. Much appreciated that you share your crate diggings so frequently. Will continue to check out more
Edit: fuck me I didn't even realize you posted 004. CHRIST ON A BIKE STOP MAKING SO MANY BOSS MIXES
Cheers Nick Best get listening cos heres number 5...

I think you're doing this to spite us all.
Three is probably my favorite so far (despite its lack of prog classics!) - that first half in particular is just hot fire.
Four was pretty damn good, too. I forget how much I love Circulation and Gray Area until I hear their stuff. Always top notch.
This week music for dark rooms. A mixture of prog, breaks, ravey stuff, techno and a little bit of trance.

Not quite into the ravey stuff, as it was never my bag 10ish years ago and still isn't today. But the first track was boss and I'm definitely stealing that. Also that remix of Ghosts, holy fuck. Got chills down my spine. Talk about a flashback
Still gotta listen to 004 and 005.
I was in a foul mood when I recorded this so its mostly quite angry electro stuff. I also apologise for some slightly dodgy mixing, dont think being annoyed is conducive to playing well.

13: Meat Katie, Chevy One - When Youre Dead (Beat Tempest Remix) [LOT49]
This week - Techno
Featuring plenty of acid and ending on one of the most mental tunes I've heard in a while.
On a slightly depressing note, Im finding that doing one of these every week is becoming quite difficult. Having just bought a house and having to get said house ready for the arrival of our first offspring is quite a pull on my time and I feel the quality of these is suffering because of it. As a result I think Im going to make these monthly, rather than weekly, if only for my own sanity.

11: NX1 - MR3 [M_REC]
12: Elite Force & Friends - I Am Acid [Bandcamp]
13: Funk D'Void & Dave Tarrida - Glowblob [Autofake]
I said I'd do one a month now so heres Julys instalment. Inspired by the ridiculous amount of good dance music I heard at Glastonbury (especially Sashas set in the Glade) its mostly chunky, groovy stuff for a sweaty night dancing in a field, although it does get pretty banging in places. Enjoy!
