last track was epic

I thought you were the curator for the fruit bowl museum sponsored by grindr?

It's the closest you're going to get to a woman, that's for sure.

That lady from Arrested Development saying blablabla and I won't dignify it with an answer.

Fuck it, I'll share.

Son turns 4 tomorrow. We've lived in Greece for three years. Moving to Vienna in August.

Anyone been? No clue what to expect. Cold winters will be a shock, but wifey will teach us to ski.

I'll miss this island, but I'm also excited to return to being around a solid music scene. Or close to accessing others. Budapest and Prague are so close.

I'm def living a good life, no doubt. Almost feel guilty considering the state of the world.

Come a long way from those weird days in America. What the fuck was that guy doing.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Apr-28-2024 21:36:

I spent four days in Vienna back in 2016 and had a great time. No idea what it's like to live there, but as a tourist it was one of my favourite cities in Europe. Beautiful architecture, hot summers, friendly locals, vineyards an easy tram journey away just outside the suburbs.

I'm not sure the club scene is all that, by UK standards anyway, but I did see D-Nox in a tiny basement club and it was really good fun. The worst part by far is that they still smoke indoors. In a small club with no ventilation it was almost unbearable. I also found it bizarre going into a tiny toilet in a restaurant and seeing an ashtray next to the sink.

Knowing your high standards and taste for the finer things in life, I take that as assuring feedback. I'm excited to arrive.

hello from the depths of time

ps, since i was roundly (and perhaps, rightly) lambasted here for being an early adopter of pushing my personal identity politics onto the rest of the world, i thought [those of] you [who remain] should know i "detransitioned" around 2015/16, met someone, and now have a seven year old boy. and i'm sorry for forcing the chaos of my life at that time on everyone here.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on May-02-2024 16:26:

Wow. Now there's a plot twist I never thought I would read.

I still think about you quite regularly, firstly because I still have your Dream Of The Earth mix on my phone and secondly because now I live in Manchester I have mutual connections with the very small scale DJ and producer Moodymanc, and every time I see his name on a line up I recall you arguing he was guilty of "blackface" for making a Mancunian pun out of Moodymann's moniker. I've always wanted to meet him and tell him that story, but after reading your post I might shelve that idea.

Anyway, we're all older and a little more mellow now, and it's good to hear you're in a better place.

Whoa! Prob feels good to address it, although I personally don't think it requires an apology. You're just a human trying to human lol. Good to hear it sounds like you're doing well.

I, too, have a (soon to be) seven year old. Another whoa, lololol.

It's funny how technology can affect our music listening habits.

I've been listening a lot more to ambient and chill-out music since I found out you can have have two apps playing sound simultaneously on an android phone. I've always listened to the news in bed, but the internet connection at the farm has been rather limited these days, so it takes a long time between podcasts and the occasional jingle would actually wake me up instead of helping me to relax. I decided to let Spotify do its thing and it does the trick while also helping to drown out any unwelcome noises from outside.

On a positive note, it also has the effect of making the chaos and impending doom sound much more soothing. 5/5, highly recommend.

Hello there!

And yeah, I second what Jenny said, no need to apologise. Looking back, I wish I'd done things differently myself - but doesn't that mean we've all improved over time? All in all, I'm pleased to hear you're doing well

Hey man! How are you doing!? I was student in US back then.. returned home to India in 2008. Settled back in my own country. Marriage, job. Regular mundane life happened. Now middle aged

What's up with you ?

Visited the site after more than 3 years. TA brought back old memories... Dark Angel and what not ! It's just amazing this forum is still around. Folks like me who have moved on... still keep coming back. Ever so once to see what's happening...to read the names which were so much more familiar virtually 2 decades ago.

The name has it all. Addicts for life I guess !!!

man we are getting old!

Posted by Lira on May-25-2024 06:45:

We are

I kind of like it, but you know what's going to sting? When we come back in, say, 50 years time, and some of us won't be around not because of some terrible tragedy or anything of the sort, but simply because we'll have lived a fruitful happy life and the natural expiry date will have knocked some of us out.

The one last person standing will be like the old lady from Titanic trying to locate where we first placed that mp3 file with a TranceAddict tag we downloaded so Swamper could lure us here

Mundane life sounds pretty good

As a matter of fact, I can't say anything spectacularly wild myself. Except for a year in South Korea for post-doctoral studies, and the fact that I'm much hairier now than I used to be, I still live in the same neighbourhood I used to live in 2008, my then girlfriend is now my wife, and my alma mater became my workplace... and that's pretty much it

Good to hear you're okay!

True, it's why I keep coming back in waves myself, really

I somehow always gain ~5lbs when camping

Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-24-2024 20:12:

Lol. It's those delicious campfire cold ones. I dunno about you, but when I go camping I drink all day long. Plus camp food, mostly junk.

Posted by planetaryplayer on Aug-24-2024 22:35:

I stayed on two meals a day. My starch was ruffles all dressed which fucked up my mouth. Only averaged about 6 beers throughout the day. Its always worth it though

Yeah, definitely very cringe when I think about it now. I suppose I was a quite early victim of the now-infamous woke mind virus that seems to cause general inflammation of the interwebz. Good thing I was smart enough to never do anything too drastic.

You know, I actually lost that mix, Dream of the Earth, over the course of several hard drive migrationsif its not too much to ask, I would absolutely love to have a copy of that again.
