Monkey Dancer 2

Oh yes, quite a switch from Miami to Cincy. Had to get Sirius just to keep up on the trance scene! Tim McMahon plays at Fathom here on Saturday nights, and he's got some great sets, but that's about it. I'm bummin that I missed Christopher Lawrence in Columbus, but it definitely heartening to know that talent comes to Ohio! And at least I still have roots in Miami, I can get back once every few months to recharge my batteries. Went back for Tiesto on the Bay, PvD at Space, and then Ultra, so I really can't complain too much...

I've been listening to trance for 2-3 yrs but still feel like I'm only begining to scratch the surface of what's out there and the amazing talent that's waiting to be found. So I love the big boys: PvD, Tiesto, Armin, Christopher Lawrence, Sasha/Digweed, and I'm starting to dig some of the newer (to me) artists like Whiteroom and GTR (listening to the Dark Side of Armin's State of Trance 2005 as we speak, 3am on the night train at the hospital and all is quiet for now... just tappin my toes to myself).

So C-bus, eh? I'm certainly willing to travel. I'll have to keep an eye out for some good goings-on. What are the clubs in Columbus I should watch (I'll check out RedZone's site)

Hope all you Ohio TA's are having a good night...

Look to Global. Steve Porter this coming Friday. Never heard his stuff either...then again, I hadn't listened to Chris Lawrence and that turned out to be a great show.

Posted by gjg21 on Apr-26-2005 03:47:

trust me, you don't want to miss porter. he's more on the housey side (which i prefer), but he can tear it up and his productions are fantastic. i'll be driving up from cincy on friday, it's gonna be a good one.

Posted by Tuis on Apr-26-2005 05:37:

I will take your word for it. I will eventually end up right in front of the tables by the time he takes over, heh.

Going to school in Ohio, though I'm born and bred in Minnesota.

Denison University if you know where that is (near Columbus).

Heard of it. Welcome to the fold! Maybe someday there will be enough of us to warrant a sticky~

Steve Porter in town this Friday @ Global...you going?

Posted by Tuis on Apr-27-2005 19:55:

10 at the door, I think 7 for presales...but whats 3 bucks? =p

Posted by gjg21 on Apr-28-2005 00:06:

is it possible to get presales if you're not in c-bus?

Posted by Tuis on Apr-28-2005 03:35:

I dont know... longstreetclubs.com doesn't say.

If its like Chris last week, just show up early, say 11pm and you will get in no problem.

Posted by gjg21 on Apr-29-2005 18:15:

tonight!

Posted by Tuis on Apr-30-2005 07:09:

Holy sheeeeet...what a show by Steve Porter! If any TA's were there and took notice of the dude in glasses, white T, unbuttoned shirt, acting the fool right in front of the tables...that was me! =D

Bouncers shut down any attempts to get him to encore until 3am...PIGS!

Next target, 20 May 05, Josh Wink @ Global in C-bus....don't recall hearing any of his sets either, but I'm so far TA has not lead me astray, so I will ask the audience's opinion one more time.

Can the Buckeye State get a friggin' sticky?! Jeeze...

Posted by jam.iii on Apr-30-2005 14:33:

glad you guys enjoyed it i was trying to make it down but was out going to open houses till about 7pm.

oh yeah, and i asked UWM i think it was a while ago to sticky this thread and he denied us, saying we need more replies / views... which is VERY weird considering the chicago stickied post at the top has 4 REPLIES

so i guess we either have to ask swamper, i think he'd be willing to help... or just wait a while and keep bumping the thread up so it doesn't get lost in the bowels of the midwest forums

6 May 05 @ Metropolis in Cleveland - George Acosta with some Kenneth guy opening (anyone know him?)

Roll call!

Posted by Esper256 on May-02-2005 06:47:

Kenneth Thomas is awesome!

I'd say every set I've seen him spin has been better than the time I saw acosta. He's also a really nice guy.

Smiley DJ

Well first off I want so say Hello to all the other Ohio TAs.. I have been in Cincy for about 3 solid years and another 4 off and on before that.. I used to hang out at the Spy Club downtown cincy for Saturday nights which used to be a really good time and great Progressive trance (Well the only in Cincy really). We used to have a cool house club called LAVA which was modeled after the Chicago LAVA (red decor housy beats more chill lounge) This just closed though a few weeks ago. Spy is now called Fathom and kinda suxs compared to what it used to be.. Anyone know of any good shows this summer. I'll travel anywhere if something is going on in the States. I would love to see Tiesto. I have been to the WMC about three years ago which was a blast and head to Columbus every now and then. After reading the prior posts I guess I'm going to be coming back up to columbus more often.... out for now

As for C-bus acts, Josh Wink will be here at Global on 20 May. I might go check that out.

Posted by jamesiv on May-03-2005 03:50:

Thanks for the welcome Tuis.. Is the Acosta party your talking about the one here at this link: http://www.groovereactor.com/

I've hung with Johnzy a few times since they live down here in Cincy.. anyway hopefully we will get some good parties together this summer.. I'm heading out to Vegas July 14th - 17th so I hope I can catch a headliner DJ while out there..

Posted by Tuis on May-03-2005 06:09:

That's the one!

And I happen to have a spare VIP ticket for it since my sister can't go now - so *waves it in the air*, if anyone is interested, gimme a buzz and we'll meet at the door since its in my name and all that jazz...
