That atmospheric pad you have in the beginning; I would drop that completely on the first drop.

Nice fx at 1:59

like the heavy verb build up

Dunno if to add pads in the final part where vocals are.

Track needs a sick bassline.

Thanks Evo normally find your feedback quite on point so appreciate that

I'm trying something new this time, not in terms of music itself, but programming sounds as I'm going. It seems to be working out ok for me so far, and I think this may turn into something I try and release.

Or not.

yeah love this sounds like an awesome start defo go for the release mate your wasted just doing preset packs

theres something not musically right to me, like rich says, your in G minor but adding that b natural (instead of b flat) on the second bar of your 2 bar melody is just throwing things ou a bit and just sounds wrong to my ears really.

for example changing the notes simply to C D E flat sounds better in a way cos its in key.

That is IMO of course you may not agree

i would love to hear some key changes later on where the bass changes key, and the melody reflects that

no time to listen to anything else ATM will later

Thanks chaps, for all the comments.

Whilst I can see what you're saying about the melody, I don't think it's 'wrong'. I think it resolves itself ok. Saying that, if enough of you don't like it I'm not going to leave it in there for the sake or artistic whimsy

Plus I realised I've ripped it from that Oakenfold Full Moon Party track a little

This isn't the kind of stuff I usually listen to but there's some cool shizzle in there. The bassline in particular is very nice. I think the kick is a little too flabby right now and the mids could probably come forward a little, but it's grooving already.

other than that.. more bass?
and maybe try doing a mid part where you take away all the synths and change up the bass a bit, then a tiny breakdown and bring back all the synths to a third bassline variant. kinda reversed yahel, or something.

cool man, bass is pretty nice and warm. the mids seem to be hiding way in the back though. cool groove but a bit repetitive, especially at first. percs could be a bit more interesting. bass is cool like i said but seems to dominate the track.

pretty nice man, the vocals are really cool.

drums are a bit industrialish for my taste, kinda clanky, they work though. like the other guy mentioned, a really big gutteral grimey bassline would sound pretty cool. good tune tho!

these aren't really WIPS, maybe, SkyBlueEye and the freaks come out at night are pretty much done, might make freaks come out at night a little shorter.

finally, some techno.

Listening on my laptop speakers but still sounds top quality. I think I read somewhere on here you got some stuff signed? Well deserved I reckon.

Sounds cool. i agree think it could do with a mid/highs bass line that really takes ups some more space, like a lead

know its a WIP but i think mix needs attention. Good work though

Maybe invest in a better mic? what mic you using? i just ordered a akg c214 and a SE electronics reflexion filter pro so i can record good vocals here at home

I think the kick is good, but I think the sub might be a bit loud? I'm dicking around on the Mac with Logic using my old K271s.

I'm listening on the free samsung earbud heaphones you get with a mobile phone and the level balance is good and you've got some nice separation in there. There's only psuedo-bass in these bud-phones but it sounded fine to me. Good work!

yep really cool - seems like you've taken your stuff up a notch ) especially like the bass on good fortune

really nice melodies/atmosphere. very nice overall

could perhaps work on making stuff a bit wider stereo wise in places?

could perhaps try some hard parallel comp on the Drums and bass buses to make things smack a little more?

These sounds pretty good. I like the bottom 2 especially. Glad your still here.

A completed track, but let me know any issues.

I put a trance bass in a d n b track.

Incredible sonic painting, really admiring the way you keep things clean and minimal yet full of character - not a trick many can pull off.

What verb / presence machine are you using?

i dunno, its a bid harsh in the mids i think, bit muddy maybe a bit too much distortion? also the low end isnt really doing anything for me, my 2c

At this stage you got some serious problems with the bass in general, but with your ears moreover.
What the heck are you listening on? The low end is there and for the type of track it is very appropriate.

The bass shouldn't be boomy nor it should stick out, in many tracks it does almost work on a subconscious level I'd say.

So really, you should rethink your interpretation of edm.

Excellent work. The only flaw I could spot was the lack of depth. I'd suggest a little bit more reverb to add some distance.

But overall good level.

He has the best monitors in all of TA. I assume the audio clip was changed.

Posted by Vancouver on Oct-27-2013 17:56:

thanks for the feedback. I make my tracks using $30 ear bud headphones so if the bass isn't spot on that would probably be why!

Doesn't matter what you use. It is more important accustoming your ears to the equipment.

Monitors are not a default insurance for success. If you are fundamentally stupid with low capacity of analysis and correct interpretation of circumstances even the most expensive arsenal won't save you. It might illude you, but it won't save you.
