I just bought an APC40. Next pay check will go towards an upgrade from Live 7 to 8 and Max 4 Live, then I can customize the APC40. It's seriously amazing once fixed up.

My gf and I are back in the process of putting out studio setup back together. A controller like that would be sex. But I dunno if we really need it, or have proper space for it

It's about $700-800 new, but I got it virtually new for $370. Guy was selling it on ITM because he's colour blind so I snapped it up. It's in mint condition

if anyone nerdy is interested in knowing what my lemur template does: it's the first page of 5. it controls ableton/logic which are rewired to slave max/reaktor

basically the lemur has really, really small memory capacity. so the new update gave birth to a lot better capability after implementing "pages", where one session could have more than just 1 layout within...1, you could spread it out into 4, 5 or 6 within 1

the page shown is the mixing channels between "warm"/"cold" tracks. anything cold is in blue, warm is in orangey red. so most of the ambient/intro tracks are mixed in the redish areas. there are 4 groups, each group has 6 sliders which are spread into 5 band EQ and 1 slider is left for a volume fader that sidechains. the primary "master" channel playing gets sidechained by the secondary (has nothing to do with the template, more so the daw template), not more so the slave/secondary, but whichever frequencies dominate the most, sidechain the least dominating

then there is a crossfader that is somewhat...complicated. primary gets A (left), secondary gets B (right). many times there are third, fourth and fifth playing! these get left out of the equation , they're static no matter where the CF is. however, they are still ducked by the track with the most "in your face" frequencies. so essentially, i leave the volume fader at max,and just mix with EQ's

the rest of the pages are effects that do a shit load of things at once. just too much shit to explain and stuff that is.......SUPER 007 SECRET. mainly reaktor and max doing special things on their own. if i'm feeling lazy i hit a button on a certain channel track on my template and the lows/mids/highs duck whichever slave track i choose, regardless of whether i touch a frequency or not

and i would fucking LOVE an APC. my next purchase

What's the need for Logic to be open? Are you running instruments into Ableton in a semi-live fashion?

The Suite Edition is expensive, but I have it and I certainly don't regret it
