Ok...could really use some of your guys advice on this track, I am feeling a little insecure about it and could really use some ears.
A few things first..
Yes, I know..this is a trance board. I do make trance but for some reason I couldnt resist the 115 bpm.
Yes, I also know what it read's..Linkin Park ::hear's shouts from the crowd "are you fucking kidding me?")
Again..for some reason I couldn't resist.
However..this has challenged me. Production of a song challenges me.
So, this is the area I could really use help in.
1: Sonically and dynamically I feel that I may have just pushed the stereo spectrum a bit to much. I dont know. Maybe a phasing issue? Is it me? How does it sound on your monitors?
2: Arrangement. I just cant help that my "anti" drop at the minute mark wont win any awards. I also feel that I am lacking to much in the form of additional vocal even though I have a vocoder going over as backing vocals. I feel this is most prominent after 1:43 leading to the next break. I am stumped at how to fill this out without sounding repetitious, which in some ways I already am I feel and dont want to extend.
In essence...I feel good about the track, just feel that it can be tightened better ...but where is what I having a tough time with.
Thanks ahead of time!

Interesting that you guys don't seem very fond of this. I think it's one of the more interesting and unique things I've done. It's a lot more experimental, I guess.

Originally posted by Richard Butler Your'e getting that festival sound, the only things I'd think about is some sort of vocal bit here n there - just nick a vocal from somewhere and completely mangle / alter it if you don't want to sing / cant get a singer, and the piano parts do nothing for me - I cant follow them easily. |
Wohoo, lets rock it!
Updated, New arrangement, added effects and percussion!
Still in the process of adding one more pad and lead, then climax, done.

this is my previous post revisited, on the deeper, morey groovy, hypnotic organic side of house.
A full round kick, hypnotic percussion and weird nuances changing over time.
Mind you this is LIVE tweaking, (turning knobs, mixing channels and applying FX) works best if you just go with the flow, it's not polished, just lush deep grooves for when you're not sober
you can download the HQ WAV if you want to listen full bitrate.

Originally posted by Raphie so in potential it's a nice track, mix stil a bit dull, but what realy bothers me is the ear candy loop, it's to Obvious and too static and clich ommhhhhh stststststsstst... ALL THE F#CKING Time ![]() come on man, keep the synths, bassline but work on impressive percussion, taking the track to the next level. |

The way i see most modern tracks is
a beat (kick + percs hihats)
I really like people who program these rather then grab vengeance or loopmasters
then you have your bass synths, these need already to sound phat and crispy solo, but also gell with the drums
then you'll have some leads / plucks / stabs whatever, these will need to bring the emotion
and then you have your fair share of risers/downers/explosions and fx layers to further spice up your percussion. If you feel you need to use these, then you're not able to build enough tension with your core content.
A lot of people might dissagree, but a lot of stuff i hear is form over substance, meaning, the whole shebbang of the right samples, the right presets and the right midi rifs are there, so near perfect execution technically, but the track itself is then F#cking boring, if you knw what I mean, not saying your track is, but YOU should be able to be happy with your track jst trusting your core components, rather than leads and bass being a sorry ass excuse for completing the track.
with ear candy i mean all the whooshes, 8 measure loopmasters/vengeance/nexus FX samples, sidechained built ups, explosions.... you don't need all that crap. The arrangement and melody should speak for itself. Or if you want to use ear candy, make some yourself and use it differently than everybody else.
just some general thoughts here.

No loops here, everything is done by only me. Vengeance can suck it.
Updated.

Originally posted by Richard Butler It sounds good, but I don't know whats yours and whats the original so I cannot comment too much. The shuffle hats / snares I hear now and then do not work, the timing is a bit off and they are to much filling the soundscape, keep it a bit cleaner. Sorts of track I hear playing on FIFA games. |
Peep this. let me know what you like and dislike. I tried to keep things constantly changing. track produced on reason6

my honest opinion for what it is worth... I happen to love this style of EDM. I listen to W&Ws radio show every week and hear similar tunes. your track has all the elements. the sound quality is great and the track works. For me though it is just missing something that grabs me and pulls me in, completely subjective I guess. Overall a good effort.
